Does the cost in points of a Qantas flight go up the closer to the date of the flight like the dollar cost does? Don't know if I need to book right away or if I can put it off.

Also is there any way to determine if a flight is a better deal with money or points?

Thanks,

Ryan

Ryan, welcome to AFF. I have moved this tread to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program forum.

There are two types of Qantas awards, Classic and Any Seat awards. The Classic awards points costs do not vary. They are fixed but the number of award seats available at the Classic Award rate is limited and waiting will likely miss out on them being available.

The Any Seat awards are available any time there is a seat for sale in the cabin you wish to travel. However, the points cost for an Any Seat award varies based upon the cheapest fare available for purchase at the time. So they may go up or down closer to the flight departure date depending on the loads on the particular flight.

That really depends on the value yu place on the points. Different people place different values on Qantas FF points so will come to different conclusions about the comparative value for a particular flight.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
