I found a first class award flight to the US that i'd like to use for myself & daughter (infant) However when search for 1 adult the fare is available but when I add an infant, it disappears. Is there a restrictions on award fares and infants or should i book for myself and add her later on?

Thanks!

I cannot remember the exact process I went through 13 years back when I was booking MissM into F or J seats as an infant, I also seem to recall @blackcat20 posting details along the same lines more recently.

I would suggest and I am most likely the local pariah when it comes to discussions of infants and kids travelling in F/J as my view is if you have the points or cash book into what ever class you can afford. Travelling with infants and kids is so much easier in F/J.

Book and add bub later. There shouldn't be anything stopping you booking with the infant so I'm not sure what the issue is there, but I'd grab the seat then call and have her added. Of course then you'll be subject to their awful phone system but its better than missing out on the seat.

We booked business class to Canada with an infant - we booked 2 x online reward tickets and then called the call centre to add the infant. They were very good but this was pre-covid when hold times were much shorter. There was no cost for the infant, just needed to add her as a passenger to my ticket.
