I'm on the Insights panels, which sends regular surveys to test new ideas and market perceptions etc. I do it for the extra Asia Miles. A recent one floated a lot of potential ideas.

e.g. lavatory queuing - queue via the in-flight entertainment, sounded like a number sort of system. Would stop people crowding the aisles waiting for access.

The unlimited flight pass sounds intriguing - would love an ex-BKK CX J flight pass to Europe! Also, being able to allocate your baggage allowance between segments (e.g. 20kg flying out, 30kg coming back), and selling dedicated overhead luggage space were all interesting ideas.

Cathay Club also appealed to me as a lounge fanatic - basically a lounge in every city where you could just go to enjoy the trademark CX noodle bar, etc, without necessarily flying.

Very interesting concepts - especially the lavatory queuing system.

What was the Cathay Tea Bar idea? Was it similar to what CI have on their 77Ws in J - with the self-serve tea area with a selection of teas?

From memory I don't think it was self-serve. It was probably just them carrying a large selection of premium tea, or at least that's how I recall it.

Noodle cart on the plane was another that I liked!

Select your amenity kit would be good from a cost perspective - it would mean people would only take what they need/want rather than them having to give everything to everyone. Also solves the male/female kit issue.

I had this service on a CX flight last week.
Was in row 18 and exit via 1L. I "selected" every unused amenity kit I saw on the seat as we departed....coz you don't want to waste them you know ;)
