A couple of the comments were interesting:

- bins opening during flight and landing on new BSI planes (bit of a worry!);

- seats not being comfortable and not likely to last more than a couple of years (personally, I thought the new seats were more comfortable than the old ones).

'Meh article....

I like some of the replies though, maybe the journo could do a piece on it instead of something that 99% of people already know. I find it one of the most important aspects of flying...

Ailie, Couldn't agree more! It's the grubby little fact that most of the airline industry just won't talk about while they're busy jamming economy seats as close together as they can legally, while increasing the space for the corporate accounts up the front. It doesn't have to be like this (viz, the US low-cost carrier JetBlue and a handful of full-service carriers, most in Asia, with 33-34 inches/84-86cms standard in economy, compared with 29 inches/71cms on the likes of Tiger and Jetstar and 30-31/76-78 on the rest locally). The first airline to make economy 34/86 standard in Australia will make a killing.

Just more legroom please the rest is flannel and they know it.

Yea I agree the article was a bit of fluff.

I always find the comments interesting on The Age/SMH articles. It really does give a view of what the general public thinks as opposed to the 'educated' opinions of those on AFF. I think it is a much better indicator or sentiment on how Virgins changes are coming across to the public than the debate that happens here.

The one thing that infuriates me with the comments section is how people don't seem to understand that articles are shown on both The Age and SMH websites with the same comments. Ridiculous comments and an us vs. them mentality springs up all the time, quite depressing reflection on Australian society at times.
