I live in Sydney and I have to go for a short visit to Rome next month. If I use QF from SYD it wil cost me A$9,200 in J AND I'll have to go via the zoo that they persist in calling an airport, i.e. LHR. If I use CX SYD-FCO it's A$8,100 and I miss out LHR. However, by going AKL-FCO on CX the price comes down to the equivalent of A$5,800 plus A$205 to get to AKL and NZ$198 to get back to SYD, a total of around A$6,100. I have plenty of time for the extra SYD-AKL return so it's a no brainer.
OK, that's the background. The real questions are:
QF141 arrives AKL at 11.25 and CX108 departs at 13.20. Is this a legal connection time? I'll have hand luggage only and I know how compact AKL is having travelled through it twice a month until recently.
When I check in at SYD, will QF be able to issue a boarding pass for the CX sector to HKG? It would make life much easier if they can. Alternatively, does anyone know if CX does OLCI?
TIA for any help.
