International phone call from SIN, cheapest method.

I will need to make a one hour phone call from Singapore to Australia next week at my expense. Whole back story but it will be important.

I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza and then flying CX J from 10.00am (SIN time).

Does anybody know how expensive it will be to call from the CP or is it possible to make it from the CX Lounge at SIN? Free or at a cost?

I am thinking I could either make the call about 5.30am SIN time (8.30am MEL time) or 8.00am SIN time (11.00am MEL time) depending on where./how is best to make the call.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Use the free wifi from the CX lounge and Skype credit to an Au phone is about 2c a minute or skype to skype is free.

While in the USA recently I had to make quite a few calls to Australia and used Keep Calling.
Fantastic service and can be used all around the world.
You are given a toll free number to connect through, the rates are low and the balance never expires.
A bonus is that you can buy as little as $2 worth of calls at a time.

From the CX lounge A call on skype credit to an Australian land line would be approx 2c per min...you just need a laptop or phone with Skype...it is a free download.

I have Skype loaded on my iPhone. Once I get into the wifi area, I just make calls on the Skype App.

I also have the Bria iphone app which allows me to use the work IP telephony network. Using this option all calls to Oz landlines and mobiles are free provided I'm on a wifi.

There also a plethora of phonecards and also prepaid sims available, through various outlets (such as 7 elevens). If you use skype, and have internet access at the CP I'd be doing it from there rather than from the CX lounge which is open and rather noisy. Alternatively the Qantas lounge will be much quieter at that time of day. If you opt for the 8am call from hotel room, you could do early checkin on CX and easily make a 10 am departure, even checking out from the hotel as late as 9:15am.
