I have noticed that there is an iPhone app for qantas. But no specific iPad app. Can anyone shed any light on plans to rectify this?
mainly because the std site is a pain to navigate on iPad. And I prefer the iPad to iPhone........getting too old to deal with small text size.

The App is a waste of space anyway, so having an iPad version isn't going to change that.

A small point of order in relation to medhead's post: the existing application for iPhone is from Qantas Frequent Flyer, and not Qantas. QFF is a separate subsidiary company of Qantas Airways Limited. That app is specifically geared to the program and is suitable for its intented purpose.

In respect of a Qantas mobile application, there is a mobile optimised version of their website. However, it only provides limited content and functionality (QFF login, view booking, check-in, flight status and timetable, lounges, contacts). Everything else has to be accessed through the full version of their website.

Now the real question that needs to be asked: what value could a full mobile application for Qantas on the iPad, let alone any mobile device, give to the consumer that isn't already provided on their mobile site?

For the answer to this question, we need to look, in part, towards the BA and AA offerings. Examples of this include:
  • Offline storage and access to boarding pass
  • Offline timetabling
  • Dynamic, detailed flight information and alerts
  • New bookings, or booking modification

An example of what QF might do with a future mobile application was demonstrated at the Microsoft MIX 2011 conference, which was previously discussed in this thread. The video walkthrough of this demonstration app is also available.

Agree that they need to update their iPhone app and provide an iPad interface for the updated version too, but who knows what they’re working on.

If you want to view your points and status credit balance on the go, I suggest Consume, and it’s universal (works on both iPhone and iPad).

For basic stuff, like checking flight details etc , I am not looking for the full marketing site to make it on ipad, My point is that they either need to make the main site more iPad friendly , or expand on the iPhone app or iPad

The more I see of men........... the more I love my dog

or just let the ipad run the small amount of flash on the qantas website!

no problems browsing the full website on my BlackBerry PlayBook

Yep lack of flash is a problem

If it doesn't matter if you win or lose.......How come they keep score?

Yeah, I downloaded the iPhone version, subsequently got rid of it, it was simply information that I probably don't really care about on the go.

Useful information which should have been included include what time my next flight is, where I might be seated (and if I could change that) and what alternate flight options I might have if I wish to change a ticket (say I know I'll be missing a 1pm flight, but will still make a 4pm flight, being able to quickly change flights on the fly would be useful), automatically alerting me when boarding commences just in case I'm somewhere where they don't do (or I can't hear) boarding calls and \ or can't see the nearby screens and generate mobile boarding passes.

I was referring to both Qantas apps that have been released. I have both on my iPhone. They are both useless. Check in for a flight and it doesn't tell you if you're successful. WTF!

For iPad I find the qantas website to be fine. If the OP wants an app just load on the iPhone app it should work.

Personally, I use the myflights app to store flight details off line and consume to look at points balances. There is also a Checkmytrip app.
