Does anybody know if it is planned that NZ is becoming a Velocity partner? If so, this would be a step closer to becoming a star alliance member!!!!!!!!!!

IgnoRing the star side of things, it would be mad if they don't. Clearly trans Tasman flights on both sides are tied together - only a matter of time before deeper recognito I'd think.

There are some resident DJ employees around here, but I doubt very much they'd be able to answer this question, specially if it was happening, due to commercial in confidence reasons.

Also, considering that NZ still only has a minority stake in DJ, any suggestion that they'd become a Velocity partner, and visa-versa for Airports, would be pure speculation IMHO.

From the press release, when the alliance was approved:

The Trans-Tasman alliance covers three areas of cooperation
• A broad free-sale code share arrangement covering all Tasman sectors and domestic sectors forming part of a connecting Tasman journey.
• A revenue allocation agreement supported by a joint Trans-Tasman Network Planning and Revenue Management Team.
A reciprocal frequent flyer and lounge access agreement.

The question, really, is when will it happen?

This has nothing to do with the recent acquisition of shares in DJ by Air New Zealand.

Even if they become a Velocity partner, it will have zero effect on a Star Alliance arrangement - look at the SAA/QF arrangement OR perhaps more relevant is the Virgin Blue / Delta arrangement.

at least will be able to redeam/earn points on NZ!!! They have a great product..
