Just wondered if its legal / possible to purchase points from other members?

I know you can transfer to a wide range of "family" and I see on the site you can actually purchase points to top up an award ticket, but I was more interested in say 100,000 points?

Thanks

The terms allow transfer to eligable family members only. There is ability to purchase a number of points a year to do a top up ( maximum 20000 ) to cover up to 15% of an award. The max number you can purchase does depend on your current balance

e.g. if you want to purchase a 100,000 point award, you could purchase 15,000 points but you would need to already have 85,000 points in your account .

Purchase/sale to others is not permitted

About 6 months ago i saw a person on ebay selling 120,000 Commonwealth Awards Platinum points, which would be given to the winning bidder as Qantas Frequent Flyer points. They sold for about $680 if i remember correctly, but this may have turned out to be a scam.

It is not within the terms and conditions of the QF FF program to sell points, and you can only gift them to relatives. If caught selling points the consequences can be severe.

Having said that, many people have siblings and siblings-in-law as well as first cousins that are often willing to give away some of their hard earned points to their relatives. Just incumbent on the recipient to remember that generous gift of points next time a birthday or christmas comes around.
