Just wondering, i'm going to make Gold in Oct and am looking for a birthday surprise to myself F trip somewhere on points, and i'd better take he who thinks he must be obeyed with me  cheers HG

While it’s true a Gold would see better availability, even more so can be said about Platinums, and then there’s Chairmans Lounge members above them too. So you might see more, but you’re not going to see all.

The other thing to consider is that you generally need to get an F award as soon as it’s released, which I hear is about a year out.

You would be surprised actually, I've been looking for J and F awards to London recently on classic and I'm finding quite alot of F seats popping up from 0-90 days out....less J though.

Ahh, well I don’t even bother looking, as I have no where near the amount of points needed, I just regurgitate what I hear others saying.

I believe SG/WP are only shown greater economy availability, not J/F.

This may be true, but the ability for WP to request yield management to open a seat for the standard points fee has been very beneficial to me in the past.

If you're WP the points used to do a phone booking are very very quickly recovered anyway. I've not yet had one request to open a seat for redemption turned down (done it 3 times so far).

Not much help for an SG though I'd imagine.. :p

There is no difference between what a WP can see and a SG can see, but WP's have been known to have seats made available in the past, I am not sure whether that is a possibility now that QF have ASA's, has anybody had seats made available in recent times?

That is also my understanding. Only increased economy class availability for on-line award booking. And since they started the Any Seat Awards, its been reported several times that they are much more reluctant to make premium cabin award seats available upon request for Platinum members.

I have also seen that they seem to more restrict availability to bronze members than to make more available to gold/platinum with premium cabins

I have seen cases where 1st has been shown when logged into a Platinum QF account but not shown when logged in as bronze. When going off to book using AA points, they have had no issue having access to the P inventory

I have also found availability to AAdvantage members matches that seen by my QFF account, both when it was Platinum and now as a Gold status member. But I have not tested to see if lower status QF FF accounts saw the same.

I have booked single F trips out on Classic F for three family members one of whom is currently bronze at 144000 points.I did the returns as F ASA for two in QF at 159,000 points each and because there was no additional seat I took SQ in J out of LAX in their A340.
Other than there being only single F seats between LAX and Sydney I have not noticed any difference between Bronze and Silver redemptions.
Can a Gold or WP see if there are 2 seats LAX to SYD on 18th,20th and 21st July as I only saw one on each at the reasonable rate on QF108?

I'm gold and there was nothing for 2, only for a single traveller. you might need to split them..

You are both correct.

The question though was do they release more classic seat awards to Gold FF? and the answer is as Flashware said, yes :!: :D

Hello Flashware,I was checking to confirm the Yes answer is for economy travel only as I read from our moderators.
Status does not seem to apply further than Y as we get same picks in J and F.

I wonder if the benefit has been wound back, had a quick look at SYD-BNE in school hols and there was no difference between NB and WP as far as availability goes.

Are you asking for J seats?
