is there a Newcastle Qantas Club....?

I really wish the answer to this question was yes, considering the number of times I've been to Williamtown in the last 18 months, but unfortunately there are no lounges at all at Newcastle.

well that sucks!!

I called qantas as well and the young girl thought newcastle was in NZ?? she had no idea....

Is there a Qantas club or shared lounge at newcastle airport?

Sadly, no there isn't, and probably not likely to get one either. Qantas has pretty much abandoned NTL and the sector they fly from NTL is to BNE ( as Qantaslink). There is more chance of getting a Jetstar lounge than a QP.

Nope. Newcastle is pretty much a JQ/ DJ port these days. I fly MEL-NTL all the time and the fact that QF don't even have a service on the route was a key factor in pushing me towards DJ - which is a decision that is looking better with each passing day.

You would think an area with about 1/2 to 3/4 of a million people could justify a lounge for someone wouldn't you. I do wonder whether NTL airport has even considered a pay-per-use lounge. Seems DJ are happy to use them in a few ports.

Sadly no, but there is a terrific barmaid in departures lounge who sure knows how to pour huge glasses of wine and the view of the runway isn't bad :)

I Know the one!

Actually talking with a JQ staff member, now this may have been wishful thinking on his part, but he said the roo had plans to increase flights in and out of NTL due to PAX loadings, and there was talk of a regional lounge to attract PAX away from DJ

As I said, it may have been wishful thinking

I have heard similar rumours, fingers crossed ;) Disappointingly QF were said to have been offered lounge space during the 2005/2006 re-development and rejected it.
For now we will have to be content with the bar and free wi-fi :)

And the steak sandwiches and chicken parmigiana from the sports bar, not a bad meal to help kill the time :)

Looking at the sports bar right now en route to MEL. One complaint: no FTA TV reception which makes it a sub standard sports bar in cricket season!

I don't mind a bit of wishful thinking every now and then. :)

As passenger numbers increase through NTL I think the time will come when one of the airlines puts in a lounge. Lack of space at the moment is obviously an issue, perhaps in the next redevelopment?

NC now has over a million pax movements a year, hit that target Xmas last year and continues to grow, JQ have added extra flight to Melb recently from demand (probably me!) but its only Qantaslink flights out of there so probably won't do anything re a lounge, gee it would be nice tho, but with it being so close I just get there and walk thru, grab a coffee and board basically, so you don't have to be there hours early to do all the necessities before boarding, and yes the girl gives very generous wine glasses

I agree with most comments about NTL having a Qantas lounge.

There really is no reason why QF cannot have a lounge in NTL similar to ASP or ROK. I know it is only Qantaslink flights but that is really no excuse

All that is required is a room similar to ROK QF lounge with some cheese and biscuits, crisps, soft drinks and a locked fridge for the alcohol. No hot food and everything is self serve. Perhaps one of the ground staff in NTL can look after stocking the lounge.

MKY has more flights than NTL let along ROK, the bottom line is there is not enough traffic to justify a lounge anymore like there used to be, same for Hamilton Island that also used to have a lounge.

By passengers, NTL is a fair bit larger than either MKY or ROK.

List of the busiest airports in Australia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

NTL is behind all the state and territory capitals, CNS, OOL and TSV - bigger than everything else though. The key point for QF though is that they have pretty much ceded the entire place to JQ. So not a great case for QP for the one (or is it two?) Q400 Qantaslink flights to BNE each day.
