Hey guys,

I've got a bunch of QF points I want to get rid of and am wondering if anybody knows of a site that allows you to advertise want/swap type info for points and miles? I've seen Coupon Connection on FT but that seems to focused mostly on the US.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Well there's Points.com where i have swapped points between programs before, but don't think they do anything with Qantas points from memory??? They might be a little hard to transfer or get rid of, how many are you wanting to rid yourself of and what were you roughly thinking about swapping them for, is there another hotel or FF program you were interested in???

No: at least not if done in accordance with the terms & conditions you have agreed to.
QFF points can only be used by yourself or given to family (as defined on the QF web site)
Qantas can close your account if you breach the terms & conditions (some of us remember the B*s !!)

Ideally for AU AMEX points. Your correct, points.com doesn't seem to help with QF

Thanks for the heads up Meenenzi.

What is the 'Bus'?

Still if anybody knows of anywhere that may facilitate a "hypothetical" transfer of points I would be interested to hear about it...

Cheers,

Heavens! Don't mention the b*s!

It predates my time here, but I think it went something like this: (I'm sure someone will correct me where necessary and fill in the gaps)

I think it involved a b*s service between a couple of Pilbara mining towns that was actually a QF codeshare, and an AFF poster who bought many tickets on said b*s, but had other person(s) take the trip, whilst collecting cheap SCs (checking of pax identity was not undertaken on the b*s) . Or something like that. Said AFFer was 'found out' by QF and I believe some punitive action was taken. All posts re the b*s by said AFFer (and I have no idea who it was and whether they still post) have allegedly been expunged from the forum (at the AFFer's request).

Note I never actually mentioned the b*s. :p

Edit: Or was it a poster on FT? Or both? Not sure...lost in the mists of time.

Webflyer.com has a mileage converter but IIRC Qantas is one you can't convert points from (you can swap to Qantas though).

On FT more than AFF. You got 15SC & 48 miles. and did NOT need to travel:- just pay for a seat. One person (still on FT) got status quickly & cheaply. Then the lawyers got involved

Said poster got hounded of the QF forum on FT (a bit unfairly IMHO), and then (physically) moved to the UK. He still posts on FT but NEVER on the QF forum now...he exploited a loop hole and would have got away with it til he made a complain to QF who, whilst investigating his claim, noted an unbelievable amount of bus (sold as a QF codeshare so earnt points but most importantly status credits) travel between Paraburdoo and Tom Price. It was actually a very clever thing but from my understanding, QF shut down his QF platinum account unless he could prove he took all those bus trips...I understand he is a lawyer by profession and threatened to take QF to court and use his media contacts, and then steadfastly refused to disclose the outcome that let to the scorn of many FTers til he was hounded off the QF forum.

There is also Flyertalk coupon connection but there are reports that some people do not honour their side of the bargain.

Essentially you can advertise QFF points in exchange for some other miles/points and come to some agreement. You purchase an award for them and they purchase an award for you.

Yes I know the rules of the QFF program but they really need to scrutinise every single award and/or QFF points transfer in order to find out potential scams.

Colleagues and I have always enjoyed decent outcomes through FT CC and made some very healthy relationships.
I still think you might want to be careful, but given it's not the easiest hurdle to achieve qualifying status for CC, there is some inbuilt comfort.
