Is there a trick for Heathrow to avoid "Airport Taxes"

Totally make sense, suitable for those of us who fly business or first, but refuse to take Skybus / Sydney Trains / taxi / Uber / Heathrow Express, and take Piccadilly Line / PTV 901 bus / Sydney Buses instead.

Is there a trick for Heathrow to avoid taxes is there? I have a trip in Dec, how much is the airport transport tax for heathrow?

Piccadilly or Elizabeth line are very reasonably priced considering the distance, those cost £5.50 and £13 respectively.

Heathrow Express is £25 unless you book an early bird ticket, and a cab is about £60.

There are also discount HEX fares if booked in advance. As low as £5 (from memory) but never works for me…

Piccadilly line has risen to GBP5.60 now. However there is a trick to reduce it to GBP3.50 which is to tap off / on at Hatton Cross. Hatton Cross is now part of the 'free' Heathrow area so by tapping off / on at Hatton Cross your journey just becomes Hatton Cross to / from Central London rather than Heathrow to Central London or vv.

If planning to use the tube/bus a lot in central London on the day of arrival we found out that better to use one credit or oyster card to get to Earls Court and then tap off there and use a different card to tap back on and use for the rest of the day. Admittedly we were staying near Earls Court so it was easy to do.

The reason Zone 6-Zone 1 daily cap is 15.40GBP but Zone 6 off peak fare (2.10) + Zone 1/2 daily cap (8.50) saves 4.80. If travelling peak from LHR worthwhile as peak fare is 3.40.

If staying London for a week or more that could actually save you a lot more depending on the day of week you arrive. The weekly Zone 1/2 cap is also lower than the Zone 6 cap (which would be in play if using the same payment method in from LHR).
