In QF lounge in HKG. Can't get VPN access to my corporate network to work. Internet works well (why can't Sydney learn something from this...). Think I have read previously that there is some proxy or something that restricts access to VPNs. Anyone found a way around this?

This is one reason I prefer to visit the CX lounges in HKG. The QF lounge internet "service" proxies everything through a web-only proxy and as such will not allow things like IPSec VPN (SSL VPN is ok), Lotus Notes email or Sametime, or any other non web access. Given this is supposed to be a Business Class lounge, they are not catering for a large proportion of business travellers who require internet access other than just HTTP/HTTPS.

As NM said - there are added "enhancements" to your QF J lounge experience :)

It gets better if you wander up to QF F lounge - they just tell you to use the general airport free internet

After that, I walked out and across to the Wing. CX is better, but I couldn't get my Pennytel VOIP service to work (it places the call and there is only silence).

It's probably a good rule of thumb to avoid the QF international lounges and use a OW partner lounge instead where possible.
