I certainly wasn't able to do this a few months back. But on a current booking SIN-LHR on QF1 (but booked with BA flight number) I have been able to request an upgrade on qf.com using the QF booking reference. Wonder if it will come through!

What is the date of the flight ?
After April 2013, when the QF/BA JSA ends?
QF1 will then go SYD-DXB-LHR

Moral of the story is never try to do this. After reading the t&cs I see nothing has changed, and you can only request points upgrade on QF operated with QF flight number. Despite having a BA flight number, it still allowed a confirmed upgrade request on the QF shadow booking. T-40, and the economy sector turned into business, but an additional Y booking appeared, and several other strange things. Called QF they said it should never have been allowed and that it was an IT glitch. Seemed to be sorted, economy seat reinstated :( but now it's cancelled again! Let's see what happens when Mr grant32 arrives in SIN.

I believe BA codeshare bookings result in 2 PNRs. Just because they show up in MMB, and you may be able to request an upgrade, I wouldn't knowing it wouldn't happen.
