Hi all,

Sorry if this has been covered before (I couldn't find an answer using the search function, and the V Australia website was of no help)...

I'm flying TSV > BNE > AUH > LHR with V Australia (all booked under the same ticket). The international baggage allowance for economy is 23kg (+10kg because I'm a Velocity Silver member, I believe)... am I entitled to the same allowance on the TSV > BNE (i.e. domestic) leg of the trip?

Many thanks,
GJX

Hi there, and welcome to AFF! :)

I just got this from V Australia:

V Australia’s checked baggage allowance and infant baggage allowance will also apply for all Virgin Australia Airlines Codeshare flights.

So, does the domestic flight that you have booked have a flight code beginning with 'DJ' or with 'VA'? From this it seems that if the flight code starts with 'VA', the increased luggage allowance will definitely apply, and if it's 'DJ', while it won't specifically apply, if you check-in at the airport for the TSV-BNE flight and present your itinerary showing the VA flights, I can't see them trying to charge you extra if it was all booked on the same ticket. :)

Thanks, ChrisCh!

The TSV > BNE flight does have a VA code on my ticket (but is "operated by DJ Virgin Australia"). I had assumed it wouldn't be a problem since it is all on the one ticket, but I just wanted to make sure everything was simpatico between the various Virgin divisions.

Cheers!

This is correct. If a Virgin Australia domestic sector is booked on the same ticket as a V Australia sector, the baggage allowance of the International flight applies for the domestic flight. I've done this many times, never had any problems.

Has anyone had experience with this when the domestic leg was booked with the High flyer credit card 2-for-1?

I have an existing SYD - HNL - LAX - SYD booking with VA, and just booked PER-SYD return to get me to/from that flight using the 2-for-1.
Phone rep said travel agent should be able to link the bookings (I found it strange that she couldn't do it??) but wasn't 100% sure about the baggage allowance transferring to the domestic legs. Said if it was all one ticket, and booked together than of course it would. But being that my domestic sectors are booked separately (which is the only way to access the 2-for-1) it might not....??

Virgin don't have the ability to 'link' booking within their domestic to international systems (due to being different systems), and i would assume if they are different bookings then the greater baggage allowance will not apply for all sectors.
