Is "Your Bookings" showing correct luggage allowances since 2nd May changes?

I'm pretty sure that "Your bookings" used to show correct luggage allowances incorporating the status uplifts allowed based on status. However, looking at an upcoming itinerary, it is showing just the base allowance for the class/sectors flown.

Qantas Baggage | Checked Baggage Allowance shows the correct allowances (of course).

Has this been happening for a while, or something new? Recall seeing correct allowances previously at some stage, but I don't have any proof.

AFAIK it's always shown the ticketed allowance (being the base allowance).

Would be quite hard for the system to correctly put the higher allowance on your ticket. E.g. if I book when I am WP for travel after my requal date and I drop to SG because I didn't make WP than the ticket would have to be reissued/updated to reflect the new allowance, as far as I recall seeing it on my tickets it has always been the base allowance (off course always possible I am wrong :-) )

Or I could be wrong ... :) Wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last time.

Thanks TheInsider and ozmille.

I don't see why QF can't implement this however. Other carriers have systems that work. AY will show +1 bag for being OWE/OWS/OWR and BA's MMB can show what lounge you have access depending on your class & status.

Actually, it would be quite easy - all Qantas need to do is file the increased allowance with APTCO and it would automatically appear where applicable.

Qantas choose not to.

Although itineraries based entirely on QF flights wouldn't need to see them going off to APTCO to get that information!

I was referring to it being "quite hard" - it isn't hard using APTCO and probably easier if such evaluation is kept in-house for in-house routings.

According to ATPCO website QF do participate in Baggage Allowance and Charges Participating Carriers and QF are in the Carriers with both allowance and charges released
Id this the correct link:

Also: (ATPCO-Products-Baggage Allowance and Charges-Overview)
When your airline files its policies in ATPCO’s Baggage Allowance and Charges, you can

  • Identify the types of bags that your airline accepts at no charge or for a fee
  • Detail your free baggage rules, as well as any charges for excess, overweight, or oversized bags
  • Vary your allowance and charges based on the passenger’s journey information, such as passenger or fare type, frequent flyer status, ticket data, or travel period
  • Create custom baggage rules for your corporate travelers
  • Define your baggage allowance and charges with a piece and/or weight system
  • Set baggage charges based on a percentage of a fare, the number of additional pieces, or the amount of excess weight (by the kilogram or pound)
