On Wednesday, I arrived at SYD VA Terminal 4.5 hours early for my scheduled return flight to BNE, that was a revenue ticket and I had upgraded using points (both sectors).

Upon arrival at the Lounge Service Desk at 3.15pm, I told one of the CSA's that I'd like to utilise Fly Ahead on any of the upcoming BNE services (entitled to use being Gold). She checked the 4pm service and advised there was a J seat available.

However this is where it got complicated for her. She had never done a Fly Ahead booking where the sector had been upgraded with points. She asked both her next seat CSA and Supervisor for assistance and they explained the process to her (which involved firstly changing my booking back to the original fare class, then transferring me to the new flight on that fare class and finally re-instating my Z class booking to snag that last seat).

She certainly had some issues making the changes and thankfully the seat was still available when she went to request it, but little did I know (until today) that she decided to take more points from my account:

When calling today, I got the Manila CS staff and had a little bit of trouble with communications, however within 20 mins (and two long bouts on hold whilst she checked my story and explanation) have the 8,560 points back in my account.

Was this at Checkin or in the lounge? I kept getting directed to the lounge for Fly ahead on upgraded tickets as it is a process, now I just go straight to the lounge it takes time but the team there seem to understand the process.
