Even with 12A & 12B, I must be mad...

I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us are. It's very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad.

:shock::shock::shock::shock:

Might need a little more information...

11AB are good seats on a QF A380 but carp on a QF 734 and don't even exist in a 763.

As my teenager would say "Chillax" 11A and B are good seats, Mrs MunitalP at the window, you in the aisle, glass of bubbly in hand. Bar and lounge area at the front of you and the stairway down to heaven.
Enjoy

Emerald city? I'm visiting there soon too. 11E for me, travelling single...

I was called last night saying the 388 i was on for QF11 in November is being swapped to a 744... not so happy as I was hoping for a points upgrade.. seems the 388 isnt flying for the first 15 days in November :(

11A,B, 12A,B ... Emerald City is niiiiice, especially when your partner is next to you (well, I presume so after sitting next to some woman in 11A).

Thats the type of call I am hoping for :)

Why do you dislike the A380? Is it the exploding engines and dependency on the computers thinking for the pilots rather than highly skilled pilots thinking for themselves or the fact that a crash in one of these would be the single biggest air disaster in history or the fact that as they are fairly new still any inherent and fatal fundamental flaws in the design of these overly large aircraft have yet to be found and only may be found as the result of an incident?

Having a bad day Simon?

Not at all - just wondering if it is the increased likelihood of a firey death that has so far put off MunitalP from flying the A380 :)

I think my biggest hatred of Airbus in general is the open tender policy they work to. Boeing also have an open tender process, however to pre qualified recipients, however, anecdotal evidence suggests that Airbus will allow their successful tenderer to meet necessary quality systems etc after the awarding of the tender rather than before. This is a fundamental flaw in any quality control / quality assurance process.

On top of that (anecdotal evidence again), the successful tenderer is then allowed to impose self regulating quality measures on their sub-contractors - it couldn't get worse for controls. An example could be:

Airbus design a widget
The widget manufacturing goes to open tender
ABC Wigets who are a holding company, win the tender based on price
ABC fast track QA into their company to suit Airbus widgets
ABC sub contract the manufacturing of said widgets to the best price - XYZ Company
XYZ company registered in Germany manufactures to ISO2001 Quality Systems, however the parts are manufactured in China and assembled in Germany
The freight company from China to XYZ is again to best price - no care no responsibility

In this scenario, Airbus have at least three steps in their manufacturing process which are not directly controlled by Airbus. Airbus will conduct QA checks on ABC, but it's further down the supply chain that is my issue.

I also don't like the name ;)

I believe MintalP would be happier if the 388 has been in service for a dozen years or more giving more time/operation to uncover major issues.

(ISTR A year or two they actually booked on a 388 but this was cancelled and much to their relief flew transpacific on a 744.)
