J service Brisbane To Perth

Hi all I thought I would give some feedback on my flight flying J on Qantas Brisbane to Perth y today. The flight left at 8.25am,breakfast was served at 9.00 all complete by 9.30.Remembering this is a flight over 5 .5 hours. I enquirer with the CSM if thay were planing a extra meal run. The answer was we will be servicing coffee and a biscuit .
I would have thought an extended range of small morning meal should have been supplied a biscuit doesn't cut it. QF will give plenty of reason for customers to try virgins new offer.

Business class is the most premium service available so a 5.5 hours flight, a small option greater than a biscuit I believe would be beneficial remember the sticker price for the seat are $1700, with Virgin breathing down QF service and offer should be top notch.

On the dinner flight from PER-BNE the food service took just under 4 hours. Drink w snack, soup and bread run, main meal and bread run, dessert, cheese, tea or coffee, after dinner drink. Lights out or 45mins or so.
Way too much food service IMHO without eye mask.

I regularly fly on this same flight in whY. I find that after the breakfast provided, i'm usually scratching for something else about 1/1.5hrs before landing. The muesli bar is alright but it certainly doesn't fulfill my needs!

I will be flying BNE-PER in April on the A330 (QF597) in J. Can anyone shed some light on what seat is in J on this flight? Is it the same as domestic J on the 767 that flies the route regularly or is it the shell seat?

Most likely it will be the "new style" J seat, less comfortable than the 767 Millennium and not a Skybed.

QF597 has been a mixture of the EBM/N and the EBO/P 330's for the month of January.

I do the Syd-Per on DJ a lot these days, previously flew QF on the route.

DJ does a snack service depending on time of the day- pies, banana bread, muffins, or anything from the Y menu.

QF has definitely gone down the cost cutting route!

Yeah, if it one with the 'removed' middle seat it's certainly ordinary.

The AVOD fitted in this aircraft is fantastic, if you need it for a flight of this length.

I'm looking at doing a JASA from bne-per in early march on QF597 and noticed that the aircraft is an A330-300.. Could I assume that this will have the skybeds? QF597 in feb still seems to be on the A330-200. Haven't seen any qantas advertising that skybeds will be available for PER-BNE flights - would think that they'd spruik that a bit?

When I flew SYD/PER both ways on VA last year, there was only one gazetted meal service. You can have snacks any time you like by selecting from the Y menu, but you need to ask for it - it is not proactively offered, nor is it indicated on the J menu.

As far as I can tell on PER routes operated by QF, only one meal service is offered as well. Been that way that I can remember since 2007. Can't see why it's a "cost cut" now when I don't believe it's been any different to before.


The main exception for both airlines is, of course, the red-eye ex-PER, which usually consists of one short supper and a continental breakfast. That's the only case I can think of where two gazetted meal offerings are provided.


For a 4-5 hour flight, I think this is sufficient. Having flown many other 4-5 hour flights apart from Australian trans-cons, they are typically only 1 meal service flights, too.

Unless things have changed, that is only the case for DJ. With QF (at least for QF568), you only get a supper right after takeoff, which is usually a hot dish with bread and a cupcake. You do get an offering of juice before arrival into the east coast.

Not like anyone needs to eat twice on a 3-ish hour flight anyway, but the DJ supper service is very abbreviated (just a sandwich and a small cake) and is finished in half hour easily. After that you go to sleep for 2 hours and get woken up in the last 45 minutes for the continental breakfast, which is a hot muesli, some pastries and fruit.
