On the 777 to/from SYD, try to get the front row (17??) of the PE cabin. It has significantly more leg room behind the cabin divider from business class cabin. Otherwise the PE seats are are much the same and chose based on ailse or window preference.

Thanks for that. I have not flown with JAL before so are they OK to fly with as far as comfort etc goes?

Get row 17 as mentioned. The only negative of this is that behind the bulkhead you don't have a foot rest (if your a fan of this). I flew this route last week in these seats and i stretched the legs out big time without a worry!! If possible get A,C or H,K as if you are in D or G in the middle section, your foot (depends how tall you are) extends out to the aisles.

Comfort was good for me, but I've heard some don't like the sky shell seats as it just rotates, not physically recline.

JAL's food was ok, not the best, but service definitely makes up for it! Have sweet time!

cheers

I was in row 19 and jealous of those who scored the extra legroom in row 17. The standard Y+ pitch is not as good as QF's, but in row 17 is very generous.

There are no lavs in the Y+ section (same with QF), so you have to go back into Y for the facilities.

Food is served from the same trolleys as Y, but did seem to be slightly better quality (maybe just the trimmings?).

Cabin crew were attentive and regular walk the cabin to check if anyone wants/needs anything.

Overall probably not quite as good as QF's Y+ product, but at least as good as BA's. I hav enot experienced any other Y+ products to make a realistic comparison.

Thanks for the info. Looks like row 17 is the go and the food is OK. Nice to have the comparison with QF. I am now in the picture, cheers.

Welcome to AFF foles!

Have you tried SeatExpert? Not sure if it is useful but may have the aircraft configuration you are after.

Thanks JohnK, I will check it out, row 17 seems to be the choice of other members but great to know about SeatExpert, cheers

Re: foles

Don't go anywhere without NM's thread.Actually, he has been flying JAL to Japan lately, so may know something...

Thanks for that. I booked my flight today and requested seat 17A. My travel agent contacted JAL re same and was advised that row 17 which everyone recommends is reserved for baby bassinets!!!!!!!!!!!. When travel agent suggested that it was a bit suss, the lady stated that they cannot appoint these seats until the last moment. Needless to say, my t.a. will ring again for me. I am not too worried yet as my flight is not for some months yet, however, it is an onward flight to Europe so was keen to get my seat request. Maybe NM can help, thanks for your reply.
