Its so nice to see an International airline go for comfort seating even in Y with their new 787 rather than the sardine tin mentality of most others to buck the trend.
Looks good but I think it's not going to look like that in reality? Photos always make the seats feel spacious.
The article was referring to the newer 787-9... the 787-8 has been in service for several years already with JAL and the 2-4-2 seating and yes, it looks like the picture, and has received outstanding reviews from passengers.
It's really frustrating that Qantas is going for a squishy 3-3-3 on their 787s which are doing 17.5 hour non-stop flights. Qantas says that 3-3-3 is industry standard, but a 17.5 hour flight sure is not!
I've just booked my first PE trip to the US with JL. I think I will start flying JL in Y to the US too, I'll give it it a try to ORD when they start MEL-NRT in the coming months.

It surprises me that JAL does not win more airline awards.
Either it refuses to pay companies such as Skytrax sufficient money, or insufficient spread (as in 'of nationalities') of travellers fly it.
It seems to be an airline that puts passenger comfort a close second after safety, not a distant second as many others do.
