Having used MH several times on the SIN-KUL and return, this trip has been booked as a DAS13 fare and so I am using JAL for the SIN-KUL segment. So here are a few points for anyone else taking this sector (and I will fill in more details after I have arrived in KUL).
The JAL flights operate from SIN Terminalo 1, the same as QF, BA and CX flights.
Check-in opens 2.5 hours before scheduled departure and uses row 11 counters which are at the D gates end of the terminal) other end from QF).
I was the first to check-in at SIN for this flight and have SEQ 19. So there are no more than 18 people continuing on from the inbound flight from Japan, so I am expecting its going to be a pretty quiet flight.
As a business class passenger, I was given an invitation to the SATS Premier lounge. This lounge is at the top of the escalator near the QF J lounge and before you get to the QF F lounge.
Knowing I have access to the QF J lounge as well, I thought I would have a look at the SATS lounge for comparison. The food on offer here at the SATS lounge is a big step ip from the QF F lounge. There is a choice of 3 hot dishes (noodles, black pepper beef, and a chicken and rice dish), plus soup, chinese dim sum and pork buns, and sandwhiches). There are also individual salads with choice of dressing. Lots of sweets and Haagan Dazs ice cream. Certainly plenty for a good meal.
Drinks selection is pretty basic but ok. Beers include Tiger, Carlsberg, Heineken, Asahi and Kirin. Scotch is JW Black and Gin is Gordons.
There are 9 computers that seem to have good internet performance.
Overall, this is quite a good lounge for a short-haul flight.
