I was looking at the JAl web site - JAPAN AIRLINES - oneworld Yokoso/Visit Japan Fare Online Booking

It seems you can get econ sectors for 10000 yen - up to 5 sectors as part of the deal. You have to come in on a one world carrier.

You can still do the 1000 yen upgrade to J class, so I'm just wondering if it would be possible to do say a TOK - SAPPORO - cough - SAP - cough - TOK status run?

By my estimate that would yield 40 + 60 + 60 + 60 + 40 SCs if you can score upgrades on all the flights - I'm not sure if the J class upgrade is available on all flights.

I do like the idea of 260 SC for maybe 55000 yen which is around $700

I know not as good as some of the AA runs, but considering how short the flights are you might get the run over with in a few days, or it might be a cheaper alternative to buying a JR rail pass if you happen to be visiting Japan.

It's a brilliant way to get around, and you can often get to somewhere like Ishigaki or Miyako for three legs, with one way direct and the other via Naha.

Flying straight to Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Wakkanai, Nemuro, or somewhere like that and using the rail pass to get back to Tokyo or Osaka is also a nice option.

The odds of upgrading at check-in are very poor, though, I'm currently batting one for 20-something... given that it costs a mere extra 1,000 yen, most if not all of those seats get snapped up on initial bookings.

Looking beyond the Yokoso pass, even flying during the year-end peak with JAL, we were able to book the J option, not 10,000 yen a leg, but not double that either. Should be easy to average 40 SC per AUD200 or so.

I wouldn't recommend using the pass as an SC run. Could be very useful for positioning, though.

I am running 100% on getting upgrades with Yokoso fares . Even earlier this year flying NRT-CTS on the first day of the snow and ice festival it was very easy to get the upgrade. Indeed the JAL staff were going around and asking people if they wanted to upgrade.

And don't forget there are even routes where you can upgrade to first class and get the SCs.

The $12 Class J upgrade, we take it for 40 sc's every time we can.

how come its so cheap? must be all gone at the gate!?!

Damn

me think I will have to search out what routes have F avail. 120 SC for not a lot of money seems to good to be true.

i have read some people say the JAl dom flights don't always credit so prob best to keep the BPs untill you see the points in ya account.
