Jamie Oliver promotes vegetarianism, kind of

Maybe he should focus more on his restaurant chain and improve the quality before trying to educate others.

Vegetarian dishes are great - but always even better if you add meat to them.

I am a fan of (some) cooking shows. I enjoyed the Naked Chef. But it's all gone a bit OTT. These guys just seem to me to be egotists looking to make more money. Don't get me wrong, I'm a capitalist at heart. But unless JO is actually cooking, why would I bother paying extra to eat in his Restaurant?

Gotta say, I believe he is a genuine person in his beliefs. The school dinners show is well old. That show served to highlight the lack of food quality in the UK, unlike in Australia. As such he is addressing an important need for his country of birth. Not so much an issue in Australia, perhaps that's why some don't get it. Whatever the case, he has been doing this stuff for at least 10 years. If promotion allows him to pay for these pet issues good on him.

As the song says haters gotta hate.

In my opinion you don't pay extra to eat in his restaurant. Pricing is comparable or cheaper than equivalent "name" restaurants at least when it comes to Jamie's Italian.

I am surprised at some of the barbs thrown in the direction of JO here.

Whilst not everything of JO is my cup of tea, his activist work in standing to improve the standard of the school food in the UK and US has to be commended.

Of course he is promoting himself here, but I wouldn't expect anything less from JO and his "brand"

Totally agree!

If you dont like his restaurant, dont go!. No wonder some think weve taken over from the POMs as a nation of whiners.

I regularly choose vegetarian/vegan when a dish looks appealing... but I probably wouldn't from Jamie, as I don't have faith in his celebrity translating to tastier dishes in that cuisine. Good on him for promoting healthy eating... bad on him for selling out and selling crockery in Woolworths :p
