Hi gurus,

I need 155 SCs before 30 September to requalify for Gold. Otherwise, I revert to Silver plus 9 months leftover QC membership.

I have found a JASA flight from CBR <-> ADL via SYD for 33,223 points each way. Am I correct in assuming that this will earn 100 SC's each way? Or will Qantas treat this like a direct CBR <-> ADL and only award 60 SCs each way? I am suspicious because the point cost seems cheap.

Is it even worth burning 66k points to get Gold (considering I already have QC membership as fallback)?

Thanks

On QF you'll get SCs on the actual routing not the origin to destination as with VA - so your point of view is correct.

The points cost is low due to the fact that there are Classic awards available on those flights. You may even wish to consider CBR-SYD-HBA which is another good value JASA status run routing.

Is it worth burning the points? If you have a glut of points, sure. Your QP will be deferred until your Gold status expires, so no loss there, and you will get some additional benefits as SG that you wouldn't as just QP. On the other hand, once you're there you might end up wanting to keep flying to retain it - never underestimate the power of the dark side. ;)
