Jet airways - purchase miles

I received an interesting email last night from Jet airways. Buy miles and get 40% extra free. The website is horrible and buggy, and you have to request a partner redemption via a form (not sure if it stays on line or if it has to be faxed) and the mileage calculator didn't work for me this morning.

Costs seem to be about $1,130 for Y, (J and F are x2 and x3) plus taxes. The variety of carriers is attractive though. A good selection of scary team, *A and OW. I think that the prices are return as well. I dont have the time at the moment to do a lot of research on it so feel free to add or clarify as required.

Yes it is a reasonably good deal - but not quite as good as US.

Of course there is no mention of YQ - which could add a bundle. And I worry that you could buy the miles but they can't find the availability... this could be a circus of going back and forth to find an available seat.

Out of interest i think it is about 1.5c per mile if you buy over 6000 and get the 40% bonus. So about $1700 biz class to China/Japan from Au flying CX. Not bad - but no idea of the 'taxes'.

Europe was still in the $3900 region for J and close to $5.8k for F. And they say they can't give an exact quote on the number of miles until they attempt to ticket because of the routing and stopovers.... so what if you buy 'x' number and they fail to book because they say you need 'y' number? You could lose the QF or CX F seat you manage to find.

I totally agree with all of the issues that you mention. If you are planning in advance then it potentially offers great flexibility but I think I will stay with US

I'm not sure I got my math right? I work it out to about 1.5c per mile, and the chart Europe to AU is 125,000... so I made it about $1875 plus taxes fees and charges for economy, x2 and x3 for j and f?

or did I read the chart wrong?
