Hi everyone

Regarding Jetstars best price guarantee, I have found another flight at a comparible time.

I understand that to recieve this best price guarantee, I must book over the phone, however I do not understand how they go about beating the price. From previous topics (when they had the same promotion in 2007) I read that they give you a voucher to use the next time you decide to fly. Am quite confused about how this all works.

Here are my flights for December 28th, 2010:
Jetstar: ADL - MEL, 6:55 am, Direct - $119.00
Virgin : ADL - MEL, 6:50 am, Direct - $99.00

Apparently they double the difference. The difference between these two flights is $20. Does this mean they will take $40 off the jetstar fare? Or do they give me some kind of voucher? Am confused

They will beat by 10%
Jetstar's Price Beat Guarantee - Travel Services - Travel Information - Jetstar Airways

You basically call up.
Tell them the comparable fare which they then check on the web.
Tell them the Jetstar flight you would like to take.
Give them your credit card details (no additional charge).

Done.
No voucher.
So $89.10 for your example would be full charge.

Marvellous. Thank you for your quick response

There is a Tiger flight which departs 40 minutes earlier. It is Direct, same date, and 79.97. Will they still consider this?

Yes, they will consider any other identical flight as long as it is within one hour of the Jetstar flight.

I have booked multiple JetStar domestic flights using their price guarantee.
I just ring the number and tell them that I'm ringing for a price guarantee booking.
As long as the flight is +/- 1hr and direct - never had a problem.
Only one problem i've had was when Tiger had a $15 sale or something ridiculously low like that, they wouldn't match the price as they said "it was only on taxes & charges not fares" or something along those lines.
Go for it with the Tiger flight as a pricematch!

If it's an Australian domestic flight, they will (or should) beat it. Something about not being allowed to separate fares and taxes in Australia. I've personally called them up to match a Tiger taxes & charges only fare and their call centre operator said they will enquire and call me back - which they did within 30 minutes and approved it.

Quick heads up, unless they've changed, the after hours operators won't let you Price Beat a Jetstar Light fare without charging you an additional service fee - quite a bit of nonsense. The Australian call centre will easily clear this up, unfortunately only before 10pm.

I've had a price match thru the Singapore call centre. They did it, but took quite some time, probably 10 minutes on the phone and about a 30 min wait.

When would be the best time to call up normally? I did mine around 11:30pm and I would not suggest doing that again!

A quick question on the price beat guarantee: it's only applicable if I haven't booked the JQ fare, right? That is, if I've already booked the JQ fare and then find a lower fare, it's a stiff bickies, correct?

Yup, that is .. stiff bickies? If that's what they're calling tough luck these days :p

Certainly more than a Danger thing - but I have to admit not hearing it outseide WA.
I have to admit I have never heard of 'stiff bickies' but I have heard of 'stiff cheese' and 'stiff s..t'.

I think best to leave it there....

:eek:rang jq today to price match for a JQ 35 flight only to be told "we don't price match on international flights". questioned the agent that infact this was not an international flight - melsyd is domestic only. he still insisted they dont match despite having been done on previous occasions.
ended the call with looks like ill be booking the tiger flights - thanks very much! agent was not impressed with this comment and tried to onsell me to another flight that day, i promptly hung up!

They have price matched domestic legs of international flights before, may just have got a rogue agent OR they have changed the policy.... Try again I'd suggest :)

I'm seeking some clarification on the price beat guarantee for an international journey.

I'm looking at flights PER-SIN. Tiger is cheapest at $340, departing 9.40pm; Jetstar want $750, departing at 12.15am.

As I read the price beat guarantee, the 'comparable time' requirement for an international sector is simply the same day (as opposed to within one hour for domestic flights). Is my understanding correct? Prima facie, would my situation be eligible for the price beat?

That's my understanding (not having tried it though!)

Success for me today on the JQ price beat guarantee.

I was looking at fares coughet to Singapore. Jetstar's starter fare was ~ AUD240 one way. Tiger's base fare was ~ AUD80. Wow. Huge difference.

I reviewed the rules and noted that, just as with price-beating a JQ domestic flight, the 'comporable time' for intra-Asia fares is one hour. The Tiger flight departs 35 minutes after the Jetstar flight. Perfect.

I rang JQ, said I wanted to do a price beat, gave the agent the details, was put on hold for a couple of minutes, everything verified, baggage added, small talk made and . . . done. Price beaten. All in I paid ~ AUD94, with 20kgs of bags, a saving of over AUD150.

Has anyone managed to get the $22 plus pack added onto a price matched fare so you can earn QFF points/SC?
