Jetstar broke my luggage, can anyone recommend a luggage repair place in central SYD

My lovely Kate Hill black croc has been broken, and its almost in perfect condition! The handle has been ripped on one side and i've searched thru the forums for the correct place but couldn't find anywhere else to plead my case. Ive been to every Shoe repair place type of business in Newcastle, none of them will fix it, does anyone know of a luggage repair place in central Syd, we are off there on Monday and i'll take it with me and see if someone can repair the holding flap for the handle they have ripped. Thanks in advance.

Did you put in a claim to Jetstar?

It really should be their problem to find the repairer.

Maybe contact the Kate Hill people for a more specialized repairer. Get a quote. If QJ won't / can't use a special repairer, use your insurance? If I have something special, I wouldn't be happy with just any repairer, even if I have to pay some myself.

There's a big sale on the croc with the bows just now. It might be nearly as economical to replace it and claim JQ ?

It is annoying to have your luggage damaged - it has happened two flights in a row for me now, both Qantas International (LAX-SYD and SYD-ADL)!

The correct procedure is to take the damaged item to the special luggage area, before you leave the baggage collection area. I'm not sure how much luck you will have if you try and get a carrier to take responsibility after you have left the terminal.

Anyway, the person at special luggage has a procedure to follow, and gives you a letter with reference. Key details:

• valid for 6 months from date of letter
• authorised repairers listed on the back of the letter (see below)
• or get a quote and forward to Qantas
• will be repaired or replaced

With last bag, it was a 4-wheel and one of the wheels was ripped off. the repairer didn't recognise the brand, and had no spares, so I got to choose a replacement up to the value specified on the form. Note that the question "how much did it cost" was asked by the special luggage person when filling in the claim; but apparently only because they didn't recognise the brand (no question about cost for the second one which is probably pretty common - Paklite).

When I've had issues with luggage from the airline they direct me to "Custom Luggage" of 317 Sussex St (near Town Hall). 9261-1099. They do repairs there and are used to airline issues, though I've never had a piece repaired as the issues weren't repairable.

If Jetstar won't repair, is it still under warranty?? Aren't warranties on these things meant to be about 10 years or so??? Not sure what they exclude from warranties??
