A really neat option to get to Narita and back seems to be Jet* from Coolangatta.
Non Stop day flight and only 9 hours...
Otherwise we have to go Bne syd nrt to get proper J amenities on the roo

Does a Classic award flight on JS give Lounge Access ?
They seem to be charging normal J mileage at 120k points so one might hope to get something ... hope being the operative word I guess

No lounge access unless you buy a pack which is not possible when its a classic redemption. Of course if you have QP membership there is no issue.

Are you looking at a Jetstar flight number or a Qantas QF codeshare on a Jetstar flight? There was a recent report on flyertalk from someone on a business class Qantas codeshare getting access to the Qantas Club in Tokyo ok.

Thanks vey much for the replies.
It seems that the points burn for this is usurious, so will probably just pay for the fare and perhaps also the the max package.
Pretty ordinary charging qff J value on jet* "business" and then refusing lounge access.
I guess thats why the search engine degrades qf availabilty in favour of jetstar and there is also heaps of availability.

I have been going on a yearly holiday to Japan for the last three years and IME the fares have been so cheap that it was not worth it for me to use points. Of course if your points balance is big is may not concern you.

Economy has been available every year for ~450 (RETURN!). StarClass has been available for ~$1600 (return) and if you are willing to risk Y fares, a $200 Y to J upgrade has been available 3/3 years for my brother who books in Y. This upgrade must be requested at check in. A very important YMMV for the upgrade because even though it has always been available on my flights it may not be on yours.
