Jetstar codeshare rewards not?

I've booked a flight PER-SIN using QFF points. Unfortunately I've had to choose a jetstar codeshare due to time constraints.

Now I look at the flight I've booked I see that I get a really basic flight, no blanket, no pillow, no IFE, no food (not really a problem with a red-eye special).

If I chose the earlier QF light I'd have got the usual delivery of food, booze, IFE - all for the same points.

Is there some compensation process? Will I magically be given 'stuff' to make the flight at least equivalent to the QF flight a few hours earlier? Or am I condemned to get a second class ride at a (well not really) first class price?

If you choose JQ on an award route (other than *C), you wont get the same benefits such as food, beverages and IFE as with QF. It really is a ripoff. But if you're just going to sleep, you mightn't notice.

Nope...

You get sweet FA - except the knowledge to not make the same mistake next time!

Happy travels, anyway - and welcome to AFF.

No. Jetstar and Qantas awards cost the same number of points

I don't believe so - you get the standard Jetstar service

Or am I condemned to get a second class ride at a (well not really) first class price?

Pretty much, yes.

Thanks for the bad news chaps.

I've never flown Jetstar before, so please, please! Tell me they have dour old and nasty cabin crew like QF international, and not some cheery 20 something who wakes me up every 20 minutes to try and sell me stuff.

On a red-eye special the last thing I want is CC with personality.

Well the CC are not as chripy and annoying as DJ cabin crew, but then also not as good (in some ways) as QF CC.. Just a little note they did win best cabin crew and in Australiasia a few years ago..

Luckily it's only 5 hours plus small change. - About the same as BNE to PER

I once - never again - took a Virgin flight BNE-PER. It's just not worth it.

My experience is that US Southwest Airlines who started this whole low cost thing actually do a very good job. Flights are economical and efficient, and terms are pretty good. I.e. they don't charge like a wounded bull for every conceivable extra, they have a decent baggage allowance, and they have a very civilized cancellation policy.

Looking at Jetstar and Virgin it's a mess. Looking at Tiger it's even worse of late (compared to my earlier Asian Tiger flights which were pretty good, and cheap)

My hope is that a Southwest clone turns up in Australia soon rather than the Ryanair derivatives foisted on us now.

Hi,

I have done the PER-SIN flight once and they shouldn't really bother you at all, they came out once with the cart to sell you stuff, and then not really seen after the lights went off. The flight is operated by Jetstar Asia Crew doing a Perth Return ex SIN, so they get seats blocked off to have a sleep usually, so they won't be bringing the cart out.

A comfort pack onboard is $10, which includes earplugs, blanket (thin, but comfy), a blow up headrest, eye mask and I think thats it... worth it, and you can keep it all. You'll definitely need something to support your neck as there is no way of getting good sleep on those seats without "headrest wings" ... the blow-up headrest was ok, but those bean filled ones would have been better I reckon.

You can purchase video packs onboard as well, they are ok, have a small selection of movies/tv shows not too much, also $10 to buy, but not really worth it if you plan to sleep.

Have a good flight :)
