I am looking at booking a one-way Jetstar ticket BKK-MEL-SYD.

I know that if I book a similar ticket from QF, then I need to present my credit card to an office somewhere in Bangkok within 2 days of booking. Does anyone know if JQ has the same requirement - I can't find it on their website, and have also done a dummy-booking up to entering my credit card details. I called JQ, and they didn't know what I was talking about.

Also (and I think I already know the answer to this!) does being AA emerald give me any access to Qantas lounges before the flight, or during the 3hr layover in MEL? If not, I think I have a current QC pass somewhere that I think gets me in.

The general consensus appears to be that JQ does not require the credit card to be verified prior to booking flights from Thailand.

For more information then check this thread and more specifically post #2.

I don't believe Oneworld status (other than QF) gives Lounge access prior to JQ flights as JQ is not a member of Oneworld.

JQ don't care if you don't have the credit card at checkin or to show anyone else for that matter.

If nothing is stated, it usually means nothing is needed.

Just remember JQ is not QF*.

As for the lounge access you won't get any in BKK, as JQ is not a OW member.

Of course thats not applicable if the OP has booked or is looking at booking starclass which includes lounge access.

 guess I should have done a search before posting.... that thread isn't even a month old....

I think you are correct, but I will of course give it a go at the lounge.... worked in Sydney last year in the FC lounge.... will be a nice surprise if it works, but I won't be disappointed if it doesn't. My partner is travelling on BA to LHR a couple of hours later (also EXP) so it may work. But whatever, I'm not that bothered.

I think it is better off saving the Qantas pass for the 3 hour layover in MEL.

Thanks for the replies.

ps. it seems that all the QF and BA flights from BKK are completely sold out, in every class, in the couple of days that I can travel. BKK-SYD via MEL on JQ isn't my ideal routing....

Just made the booking..... unlike QF, they don't charge a c/c fee....
I believe Credit card fees are only charged on flights booked from Australia.

They only charge CC fees on AUD, NZD, SGD POS flights.
So when did the credit card fee start getting charged for flights ex-SIN? I made a booking using the QF SIN website on 19 August and did not pay a credit card fee.

I was talking about JQ, which i thought the OP was talking about?

Perhaps I got thrown off but the "unlike QF," statement which to me implies that QF charges credit card fees for all bookings which is not quite correct.

As far as I am aware QF only charges credit card fee for bookings from Australian website. And if what you say is correct then JQ charges a credit card fee in more countries than QF.

Hope that makes sense....
