I am looking at getting a JQ MC to avoid paying JQ fees and wanted some advice as there hasn't been a thread on this for three years or so. http://www.australianfrequentflyer....wards/jetstar-launches-credit-card-19958.html. I know the best way to avoid the fees is to not fly them which would be my preference, but in DRW, there are few choices without flying a lot more to different ports, which isn't attractive with the kids.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was any advice from the community re the card, such as which option has the best value for this purpose, and whether the Y300 booking for GK bookings would be offset by Forex fees?

I applied for the JQ Platinum MC when they had a promotion last year with a bonus 20000 sign up points and no annual fees for the 1st year (upon which I cancelled the card). I ended up using it more to book JQ flights for my family/friends than for myself... I did use it once to pay for a 3K flight for my dad - airfare was S$267 but I didn't compare the forex commission with the S$16 credit card fee I saved.

Has anyone had any luck lately with getting the annual fee waived on the Jetstar MasterCard? I tried today and no luck despite speaking to two different team leaders.

FWIW I have a $49/year Platinum card. I think its reduced, maybe 50% from the original.

I thought about getting a jetstar card just to avoid the silly fees, but then I found out that you could pay via poli,

yes you need teh cash upfront but for $17 per ticket, or so in fees, i now just pay bank transfer

If you use the mobi site, a debit mastercard offers no fees as well.

Just cancellled my card. Was quite surprised the staff did absolutely nothing to try and keep me on as a customer.

Seems strange they're willing to provide significant amounts of money to lure in new customers but no interest in retaining one.

Hopefully CB don't do an earn devalue on my fee free for life signature card.
