Slightly OT:

I noticed that WP should be able to bring in 2 guests at any time.

Has any WP tried accessing the domestic QC lately when they aren't travelling?

I'm thinking of taking 2 mates in for some beer, wine and cheese at PER. It's a $15 cab ride each ($45 in total) to get to the airport.

Would be a waste of the taxi fare if we were rejected entry... hmmm.

thanks

Chucksta

I have actually been in the QP a few times without flying for meeting or seeing people off at the airport who are not QC member or not flying qantas.

All i did was show my platinum card and going in with my 2 guests. and have never been asked if was flying.

Brought in 2 guests who weren't flying to the BNE QP recently. I was flying that day.

I have been in the SYD QP for about an hour now. Not flying anywhere. Just having some beer and printing off some documents I will need for my upcoming trips.

Oh, and I found a very cheap way to get here using public transport. ;)

Are you doing a QPub crawl...T3, then T2... ?:D

Nah, I will leave that for another day. ;)

Actually thanks for reminding me to try out the T2 QP next time.

I was wondering if there was anything that would ever get you into T2. LOL (Remember it is the LCC/regional terminal, so nowhere near as swish as T3.)

Apparently some years ago QP members could access the Q Club at any time. Some retired gents near SYD would take the bus to the airport (pensioner rates), read the newspapers, have lunch & few beers and then toodle off home. A good way to get the most out of the Q club. Now you can’t do this unless you are Plat. SYD is on the public bus routes so does not cost much to get there, unlike MEL & PER

That sounds interesting. How did you manage to get there cheaply?

I think I have been in T2 once. My first ever flight was a SYD-BNE flight in 1990 and I think it was Ansett. Not sure. Need to find boarding passes to confirm.

I will eventually fly out of T2 when DJ and JQ learn about customer service, eg customer comes first and we do not leave them stranded at the airport, and start charging the appropriate airfare for the level of service they provide.

I am really just a simple person. Just give me a drink, a place to sit and I won't complain. Well not much anyway. ;)

There is no point in having a QP as large as T3 and not being able to find a seat like tonight. Way too many people with access and I don't think it is Golds and Platinums. It is all these corporate memberships at <$100/pa and others with salary sacrificing and tax deductions.

BTW I saw two serious business types walking up the escalator before me and turn left instead of right. Is this the Chairmans Lounge in T3?

I think it could be argued that you figured out their secret :)

I think you are right oz_mark.

I actually stumbled upon it by accident a couple of months ago when I was waiting for the long term car park bus to arrive. When I told mum about it she mentioned to me that she had known for many years that the bus goes past both airports. The nearest bus stop to home is about 1km away and another just a few kms further up the road. Just take my car to the shopping centre car park walk up 20 metres to bus stop and wait for bus. All up takes about 30 minutes for one way trip.
