Some relatives of mine are flying to Vietnam on Jetstar. This involves the standard MEL - SIN Jetstar flight and connection onward to Vietnam with Jetstar Asia.

My understanding is that at MEL boarding passes can be issued for both flights and luggage checked through, however the Website is slightly vague (using phrases like "some", "may" etc), so can anyone confirm this is the case?

Also my understanding is if the first leg is delayed and the connecting flight is missed, then they will be automatically put on the next available Jestar Asia flight from SIN to Vietnam. Can someone confirm this as well? Obviously they will not be covered for any associated costs (hotel overnight etc).

If the itinerary includes both flights then they may check the luggage through and provide boarding passes at MEL. If not transit at Singapore is easy, just need to go to Transfer C and they will provide the boarding passes and should re-route the baggage through.
