I am flying * Class, Gold Coast to Christchurch in a few weeks time, so will be able to enter the Jetstar Lounge there and CHC for the return.
I have since been told it is hardly worth bothering, as it is crowded, plus in school holidays, full of noisy kids playing computer games.(Hopefully they will have gone back to school by the time of my trip).
This is not what I recall lounges,(particularly QF which are havens), being like when I have been into them on past trips at other airports.
The information also says it is shared with domestic pax of Jetstar.
So does this mean that I cannot use the lounge once I pass through security and immigration at Coolangatta and Christchurch ?
BTW I have never been to OOL airport before.
How do Jetstar Lounges compare with QF Lounges ?

Perhaps others have experienced positive visits to the OOL / CHC, JQ Lounges.
Please share yours both good and bad.

I do this flight quite regularly and it is always on an A320 with all economy so are you sure that *class is correct.
As for the lounge it can be a bit hit and miss with crowds but I always find it much more comfortable than sitting out in the food court or the seats at the gates.
The $10 entry fee (if purchased before arriving at the airport) is good value and would more than cover the cost of a sandwich and a drink if purchased in the terminal.
The lounge is immediately on the left after passing through the initial screening point and is located prior to immigration etc for international flights and is shared with domestic PAX:)

Sorry but no *class on trans-tasman A320 flights at all, never has been, doubt there ever will be.

The OOL lounge is located in the domestic area, where the old QP used to be. As it's not a premium carrier's lounge and a pay per entry lounge, you have to expect youngen's to be in there, but for $10, still alot cheaper in there than going to eat/drink else where in the terminal.

$15 if purchased on entry.

Thanks for the info. I have yet to book and hoped to fly * to try it out. Only considered OOL due to being @Robina for the time until I am considering going out.
Disappointing! Budget all the way eh.
The airport must be all low cost with Air Asia using it as well.
Low cost except for parking fees and concessions prices.?
Might reconsider plans and go out of BNE.

Its got nothing to do with the airport, but the loads, OOL has *class on the A332 to CNS and Japan ports as well as SYD, in BNE there is no *class flights. AirNZ operate out of OOL as well, no J though.

Just wondering, do you have to be travelling Jetstar to purchase and gain entry? If flying Virgin can you also purchase and gain entry?

Yes you do as your purchased entry pass actually gets linked to your boarding pass.

So WP's eff 01Feb can't use anytime access & give a 'free kick' to DJ flying with them nor can you give a 'paid kick' if flying DJ at OOL.

The JQ lounge at OOL has always had a JQ flight requirement AFAIK, even for WPs.

I am not sure anything is changing, but perhaps I misunderstood. Did WP's have anytime access to the Gold Coast lounge?

From the Jetstar Gold Coast Lounge FAQ's page;
Q. Is the Gold Coast Lounge open to all Gold Coast passengers?
A. No, the Gold Coast Lounge is available exclusively to Jetstar domestic and international passengers departing from the Gold Coast and access is only available on the day of travel.
Q. Can I access the Gold Coast Lounge if I am arriving into the Gold Coast on a Jetstar flight?
A. No, entry is not permitted for passengers arriving at Gold Coast airport as the destination on their Jetstar itinerary. Lounge access is only available for departing passengers.

Yes, I would pay the $9.99 during the ticketing process, its worth it. As others have said if you have two beers and sandwich, the price is made up. I think it is $6each for a beer at the bar in the food court, plus a snack you have easiler made up that $9.99.

I am now conversant with what goes for the OOL JQ Lounge. Unlike many others it seems and is quite a cheap entery fee. Although I do not expect it up to Q Club standard.
However, when I made enquiries about doing the same thing at CHC, I was informed that Jetstar do not have one there according to the Operator on the phone.
Is OOL the only one of JQ ports that has this access for a price ?
I could not seem to find a link to any other from their web site.
A pity really as I have decided to fly JQ OOL/CHC return and added the Lounge option to my ticket, but it covers OOL only and not CHC.

deleted...I posted complete rubbish (not for the first time). Apologies...

Jetstar Christchurch International

The Manaia Lounge at CHC International, is in the former Qantas Club location, but is now an associated lounge. (Other airlines also use it, including DJ & EK)

However - Entry to this lounge is "asif" it were still a Qantas Club (i.e. All QF eligible status and QP members flying Jetstar [or Qantas].)

Jetstar Gold Coast Domestic (pre-International-formalities)

The Jetstar lounge at OOL, is in the former Qantas Club location, but is now a Jetstar lounge. (Only Jetstar uses this lounge.)

Entry to this lounge is as detailed by previous posters. (One addition is that WPs "+2 complimentary access" guests must also be departing on a JQ flight.)
