Jetstar - Jetstar's Double the Difference Guarantee

____________________________________________________________

JETSTAR'S "DOUBLE THE DIFFERENCE" VOUCHER GUARANTEE

If you find a published internet airfare on another airline that is lower than the lowest available JetSaver fare on jetstar.com - for a flight on the same domestic Australian route at a comparable time, and you purchase the Jetstaver fare through our call centre on 1300 369 516, we will send you a Jetstar voucher for double the fare difference, provided we can verify the lower fare when you call to book.
Terms and Conditions
  • The lower fare must be available when you call Jetstar, through a website offering domestic Australian airfares. The JetSaver fare must also be available at the same time.
  • The applicable flight on the other airline must be for the exact route departing and arriving at the same airports (e.g. exact same city pair, and direct flights only) as the applicable Jetstar flight, and must be scheduled to depart within 1 hour of the applicable Jetstar flight's scheduled departure time.
  • Notify Jetstar of the details of the lower fare, including the address of the website where you found it, when you call to purchase your JetSaver fare.
  • Once our reservations agent has verified the other airline's fare is lower, and you have purchased the applicable JetSaver fare, we will mail the voucher to you within 31 days after your purchase.
  • The offer can only be used when identifying a lower online fare prior to booking. Claims cannot be made after a booking has taken place.
  • The voucher amount will be the difference between the Jetstaver fare you purchased and the other airline's lower fare, as verified by the Jetstar reservations agent.
  • For the purpose of verifying the fare difference, all applicable surcharges, fees, and taxes and additional amounts charged in relation to making a booking will be included. No additional amount for telephone bookings will apply to JetSaver fares purchased under this offer.
  • Vouchers will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and can be used solely for the purchase or part-payment of airfares from Jetstar during the validity period. Vouchers will be mailed to the person who makes the payment for the JetSaver booking.
  • Call 1300 369 516. Offer ends 28 November 2007.

What an excellent program; great preparation for low end market competition with Tiger. (It automatically reacts to almost any launch pricing strategy offered by Tiger.) And it generates repeat business/loyalty within 6 months, when people go to spend the voucher (hopefully as part payment, on full price fares).

Tiger is going to have to come up with something more than just $1 fares, to shake JQ from its low price leader marketing position!

Yeah, I could make some cheap flights out of this... Not that I really want to fly Jetstar!!!

Best example I quickly found:

Sept 28 Brisbane-Sydney.

DJ: $95. (9am departure)
JQ: $135. (8:55am departure).

So the "rebate" would be $80 from Jetstar....

Had a quick look. That flight is part of the international flight. Would that count at all?

Also they only have one way BNE - SYD, and not the other way around.

Great strategy - wonder if it is sustainable.

ATM Jetstar is 99% of the time the cheapest anyway (now Virgin thinks it is Qantas) so will be really interesting to watch what happens when Tiger has a go...

Given how much competition there is on the PER-AVV sector, I imagine it is quite a sustainable program out of Perth.

Havin said that, it does look like a well thought out program - rather than match the price, they give you a voucher to use on more Jetstar services.
