Hi all,

I have a Jetstar/JAL reward booking on qantas points and today I got a notification that one of the jetstar flights had changed by 5 minutes.
The usual email came through saying these changes have been automatically updated, I don't need to do anything, and an updated e-ticket will be on the way.

I have yet to receive an updated e-ticket and there is conflicting information from different sources so I was wondering whether I need an updated e-ticket.

Resending the itinerary on MMB shows the old flight timing and e-ticket number. CMT shows the e-ticket number for all flights, with a note on the changed flight stating that 'your flight may have changes'. RJ.com shows the new flight timings with the e-ticket number.

Given this information, do I need to request a new e-ticket?

Is the e-ticket number on RJ and CMT different to the original?
If you manage your booking on finnair and go to 'passenger details' does it show a new/different e-ticket number? If you request the itinerary on Finnair is it the new or old times?

You will almost certainly need a new e-ticket, which will be a different number. I would be calling immediately. If it didn't involve a partner airline it wouldn't be as much of a worry, but if it needs to be re-ticketed (most likely) JAL will require it be done within the ticketing time limit or they will auto-cancel your flights.

From memory JAL have a fairly generous ticketing time limit, but it depends when your flight is.

Dunno about jetstar, but for a regular airline, a flight change of 5 minutes, assuming same carrier and same flight number should only require a ticket to be reissued, or revalidated. So same e-ticket number, just with a revised flight time.

I got the same email yesterday - a 5 min schedule change on a Jetstar domestic which connects to an international flight. The email said no need to do anything.

I woke up today to see the new e-ticket in my inbox with new ticket numbers. Hopefully you got your new e-ticket too.

I had a BA flight change by 10 minutes on a QFF OWA back in May. Accepted the change and received a new e-ticket with new e-ticket number within about 5 minutes.

Hopefully OP has received something overnight.

Good to know! Seems odd to need a new ticket for a simple time change… too many things can go wrong with QF reissuing tickets these days :(

I was terrified when I got the schedule change e-mail. Already had QR flights drop out due to slow reticketing about 6 months earlier.

I'm not sure if it was related to connecting flights, the fact it was a oneworld award, or if covid has somehow made re-ticketing necessary. Seems bizarre for something that is unlikely to actually impact anyone.

All good now. Similar to aikman, the new e-ticket came through after some time, around 6 hrs after the initial notification that there was a schedule change.

There's been so many people losing their flights due to reticketing lately that every time there's a schedule change email, I panic a little - especially as these flights are over Christmas and they cannot be easily rebooked even with cash.

I guess the one positive is that, as you say, JL flights won't be deleted from the booking like a QR/CX flight would be so I have time to ring up if required.
