Did anyone else book on the Jetstar Starclass Sports Mad Sale in Nov 2006 for BKK to MEL $602 one way?

Just spoke to Jetstar about my booking in Feb and its in D class.

The person then told me that D class may not be eligible for QFF points or SC.

Has anyone else travelled on a Star Class Promo fare? Did it earn QFF?

thanks

Chucksta

I dont see why it wouldnt be

looking at the T&Cs

Code:
Jet Flex	Economy	1	-
StarClass	Premium	1 25%

Status Credits are earned on all eligible Booking Classes.
Flights operated by Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valueair (VF)
do not offer StarClass.

My 'promo' fare in December MEL-BKK-MEL earned 240 SC's. I'm travelling on the $602 in a week or two and I expect it to earn the same.

One thing I have found is that you tend to get better/more accurate advice here on this forum than in a 'phone conversation with an airline agent.

Jetstar ran a full page ad on the back of The Age magazine recently advertising Starclass as Business class for the price of an economy ticket. Surely its misleading. Rather its Premium economy for the price of a Premium economy ticket. A friend recently paid $2500 MEL-HNL return. Okay value but about double the price of QF economy.

Their TV adverts are just as bad, claiming StarClass to be business class. They are using J and D for the booking classes

The only thing business class about star class is the fact that the book into J/D and pay QF business class Status Credits. The rest of the product is best described as above - a premium economy seat at a premium economy price.

Actually it's more a hybrid of QF Domestic Business class and other Premium Economy.

For example, the food/drinks are served in disposable containers.

However, the
jq.jpg
Class seats are larger than, for example, BA WT+ being 8% wider (51cm v 47cm).

Also, WT+, does not get you any lounge access whereas

Class does.

Domestic Business class seats, with Economy class service.
How is that as a description. Having said that the prices for some routes atleast are within $200 or 300 of QF domestic, and for the extra room i would fly starclass any time.

And in my opinion, QF domestic business class pretty much Premium Economy.

Does anyone know what kind of power point is in the star class seats for connection to a laptop power supply?

Do you need the special targus power adaptor?

thanks

Chucksta

It's a generic power point.

Here's an image I recorded:

Probably a dumb question but which routes / flights is Starclass available on? I tried to find this info from the JQ website but couldn't.... maybe it was staring me in the face somewhere?

I just had another look and all it says on their website is Starclass is available ex Melbourne or Sydney - but no mention of which routes or flights beyond that. And their route map doesn't even show any overseas destinations. :(

Just completed the MEL to BKK run in StarClass.

Wonder how long it will take for QFF to credit the SC and Pts.. hmmm *fingers crossed*

When I flew JetFlex, each time it was just a few days. I can't speak for the StarClass though.

I have travelled

Class return once. The outbound points/SC's poisted automatically the day after travle. However, for the return they had not posted after a week so put an online claim in. They appeared 18 days after the flight.

Got the SC.. woohoo...

Can't wait to book my next Star Class Promo

I thought the service from the Thai crew was excellent. Even better than Qantas economy and domestic business! They always seem to look happy and a smile goes a long way on a 9 hour flight!

The flight left 30 mins late, but that was because MEL airport was cleaning the runway. However, we still arrived on time.

The food... well it's not business quality. But wasn't expecting that. It was what you would expect on a budget carrier.

I love the personal entertainment units. It actually works. The last 10 QF flights I have been on all had issues with IFE.

In seat power was also very welcomed.

All in all, a worth while experience
