Hello,

My question is if anyone out there can help me is, my husband, baby and myself are travelling to Hawaii early next year and have purchased Starclass seats with Jetstar, I know we can have a checked in baggage allowance of 30kg but can you check in 2 pieces of luggage or are they now restricting it to only 1?

It's just if we can only have one each we will have to get bigger suitcases, to fit baby needs in and I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere and when I ring Jetstar I just receive a recorded message.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks
Charlotte

I'm not sure about the checked luggage situation. But you are allowed to carry on 2x10kg each (well for each paid ticket). For baby needs that should provide ample allowance of checked luggage overflow, if it is only one piece.

Also anything required for baby, like formula and such, is exempt from the liquids restrictions.

I'm just reading the JQ Fare Grid and Cluecard, and their website - it states the following:
Starclass/Starclass promo

  • Checked baggage allowance: 30kg
  • Carry-on baggage allowance: 2x 10kg (as noted by medhead)
There are no notes suggesting that a piece limit applies to checked baggage, so I would reasonably assume that you are entitled to check a reasonable number of bags as long as their combined weight doesn't exceed 30kg.

The only discrepancy I can find between the fare grid/cluecard and their website is on the subject of cabin baggage. While it says that you are allowed 2x bag no heavier than 10kg each, the baggage section of their website goes further and states:

Each Passenger travelling on a StarClass fare is permitted 1 additional main item of Cabin Baggage provided that only one item may be a suit pack or garment bag, provided that each main item does not exceed 10kg, with a total combined Cabin Baggage weight of up to 20kg.
Hope this information answers your questions.

Jetstar used to have a piece system now its just weight for flights to HNL.

Sorry to re-raise this old thread but it in part answered my question (allowance on JQ is not restricted to one bag per person).

If two of us are travelling in starclass with a total allowance of 60 kilos, can our allowances be combined? In other words, can we have 3 bags at 20 kilos between us or do we each need to limit ourselves to 30 kilos?

As per the answer in another thread

Happy to help.

If you are on the same itinerary or booking you can have a combined baggage weight of 60 kilos, as long as any one item does not exceed 32 kilograms.

Please make sure you present at the check-in together for the combined limit to apply.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Simon @ Jetstar
