O. K I have been a loyal Qantas fly er for more than 30 years, and in the last 25 have not had to fly economy, call it luck call it hard work, call it a mission. *So it had to happen some time and it did, today yes I had to fly with jet star from Melbourne I on*
F474 in business class the to terminal 2 in Syd I did not check bags and had to re check in at the jet star desk, prior to leaving I called jet star to check some things, like how I arranged seating I had a lovely time *and in the end was given seats 12 c and 1f on the way home. *I was told that they would wave the fee I nice thing I thought till I arrived in Sydney, and the check in desk I was given seat 48 something and I asked if this was an exit row I was told no, so I informed *the desk person of my conversation, and was told that jet star never give exit seats away for free and this did not happen ( call me a liar) so I asked to talk to the supervisor who did exactly the same Information. *And that if I wanted to pay I could have the return leg in an exit row now I have never felt that money should stand in the way of legroom, so I paid begrudgingly. I *am on a mission to recoup my 30 dollars not because I care about the money, but because a mans or women's word is there bond as my dad taught me, so wish me luck. *As for the service I disappear at the fact that the man who started jet star is now running my favorite airline and you can already see the way he is trying to cram extra seats on, with the demise of the first class service on the 747 by the way there always full in first when I travel OS.*

With some luck Alan Joyce will head back to Ireland from whence he came before he screws the thing up so badly that it can not be fixed*

I will do my best to never fly with Jet star or any other standing room only airline again*

*:mrgreen::evil:

I could barely understand that post but I can guarantee you that you wont get that $30 back.

Full of....full paying pax? I dont think so!

Exit row seats are clearly listed as costing a set amount on their website, just because you happened to get the one operator that didn’t know what they were talking about doesn’t mean you’ll get your money back.

It’s $30.

Basically most of the original post is unintelligible. However the main issue seems to be paying $30 for an exit row. Given it is a standard charge and already paid I would recommend moving on.
I will refrain from commenting on other assertions. ;)

When I travelled DRW/SGN/DRW with SO we were both travelling on JetSaver fares & did not prepay the extra to have the exit row & allocated ourselves seats in non-exit rows, however we were put in exits at DRW Airport & again ex SGN without even having to ask.

Needless to say we were pretty happy with that arrangement.

It's my understanding that whilst you can select to pay extra to 'guarantee' you're in the exit at the time of reservation, if some exits remain unallocated and you happen to ask at the airport, then that is gratis. This has also happened to SO on JQ domestic flights.

Note that sometimes due to aircraft swaps eg today DRW/SIN JQ57 normally A321 but swapped to VH-VGO an A320 of the non-reclining variety, if you previously paid for an exit row you may not get one on the substituted aircraft particularly if there are fewer exit row seats on the substitute aircraft.

I'd read the fine print in the JQ T&C to see where you stand.

You paid the correct amount and got an exit row.

If they gave you an exit row by mistake in the first place then they have the right to take it back. Why did they owe you a free exit row? What special Jetstar status do you have?

Of course if they make it so WP get free exit row seats on Jetstar I might be more likely to fly Jetstar, but it's not likely they will.

And that if I wanted to pay I could have the return leg in an exit row now I have never felt that money should stand in the way of legroom, so I paid begrudgingly.

Sorry to say this but you have no case against JQ, you willingly paid the $30 at the airport for a confimed exit row seat.

Suck it up and move on, because getting a refund of any kind out of JQ will be like trying to extract blood from a stone.

When I fly PER-SIN-PER on JQ I asked in PER at check-in and was given it gratis, however when asking in SIN (as they were all available) was told that if wanting to sit in there we would need to pay. YMMV!

Exactly. I value my time at a lot more than $30/hour, and I doubt you would spend less than an hour of your time trying to chase something like this up.

I thought they had to have a minimum amount of pax in the exit row anyway, so if that was the case they would need to move able bodied pax (ABP's) into those seats prior to take-off!

I don't believe any airline should charge for exit rows but if SIN were adamant it was going to cost you, then I would decline the offer at checkin and ask onboard the aircraft if I could move should an exit seat still be available.

I ended up moving to the back of the plane and had 3 seats to myself, was happy with that :p

Sorry, I barely understood any of that. It sounds like you flew business class on JQ????? Which would not be correct?
Not having a dig, just could not make out what you said to give a proper answer.

Hmmm ... getting money back usually involves a very well written letter to the right person. Seems the OP can't even write an intelligible post in this forum. The chances don't look good.

First I had drunk half a bottle of single malt when I wrote this, I not only got my money back, I received my full airfare back. But if you have nothing better to do than hang **** on someone a year after it was posted have fun.

Kind Regards
