Today I personally called Jetstar to complinan about the "booking fee"
I was 100% assured by the telephone operator that Jetstar does not charge the booking fee, usually $8.50 per booking.
She told me it was my Bank charging me this fee, as a credit card transaction fee.
Cannot find anywhere on the Jetstar website about the booking fee

Can anyone please let me know, if this booking fee is a hidden Jetstar fee that is just not available to find on their website?
Or is it an actual Bank fee?
I will be going to my Bank on Thursday to confront them to find out, but I don't want to make a dick of myself if its a Jetstar fee..
Thanks

your bank never directly charges you the merchant fee when you use your card (except for international forex transactions).

Jetstar is charged by the network and they in turn charge you to presumably cover their costs (and cream a huge profit off the top).

not much point complaining unfortunately as it's common now in the industry (in australia anyway)

Thank you for your input Yohy...not sure what you mean by the by Jetstar being charged by the " network" can you explain to me what your meaning is?..thanks

Hmmm I think the callee was saying that there are ways around the booking fee, maybe? From memory, I think if you pay by POLi or JetStar Mastercard then there is no booking fee.

your card transactions are processed via a network: visa or mastercard most commonly.

ok Thanks for you input
She did tell me that if I paid by direct bank transfer..similar to Bpay.. the Bank doe not Charge a fee..so I will try that in the future and see what happens...
