Hi All

Did a search - nothing definitive came up. Does anyone know from experience if either of the "first class" fares (saver / flex) on JL domestic book into the A or F fare buckets that QF considers to be first class?

QF make it (deliberately) hard to determine ff earnings, Was simpler a decade ago

Do you have the FL fare booking codes?
More of a question for JL. Can you click through the blue "saver" and "flex" links.
Often an e-ticket will have. Or some times can look a PNR in "manage booking" before payment/issuing to see some details.

A hard to find QF link

If I'm not mistaken, JL no longer shows fare classes for domestic tickets after they revised their domestic fare structure.

I believe the JL fare buckets do not correspond to specific fare classes. For example J class may sometimes earn at QF Economy rates.

Logically, JL domestic first should earn at least Economy? MH has weird fare buckets as well (at least they show you the fare class at booking), but I think flying J in MH guarantees you Economy earn rates at the very least.

Anecdotal experience - a friend has earned QF Economy SCs on a "Special Saver" fare HND-CTS, but another friend earned 0 SCs on a "Special Saver" fare on the same route.

Even the Qantas website doesn't define fare classes for JL Domestic.

Anecdotally I've always earned status credits on JL Domestic F fares, however most of my flying is prior to the new fare structure coming in.

Even an at-checkin upgrade to a discounted JAL Explorer Pass fare did earn status credits, albeit at Economy (which doesn't really make sense, given the Qantas website states the lowest possible earn with First is Flexible Economy).

I think at-checkin upgrades on JL Dom are process as the original ticketed class for SC earn.

I'm reasonably confident they are processed in the new class, but I only have anecdotal evidence.

I know people doing JMB Status Runs often rely on at-checkin upgrades, so I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the new class, at least when crediting to JMB.

Interesting! I’m not disagreeing with you - I also only have anecdotal evidence. I wonder if this could be a situation where JMB and QF both treat these at-checkin upgrades differently.

Either way, if only there were proper guidelines as to what flights earn SCs!

I am running off memory as I have booked these before and the first time I booked it I thought I was just booking the JL version of business class but they call it F similar to the US. I am 99% sure the SCs were are the F level. The one to watch out for is what JL call J class these normally book into D, I etc. but it is more akin to a Y+ and you may not get feed and the SC earn rate was lower than I expected. If you do book J Class keep you boarding passes as you can seen these to QF and they will adjust the SCs.

These are the JL class codes.
