John Mayer vocal over troubled Qantas flight | Travel News | News.com.au

SINGER John Mayer became a vocal critic of Qantas over the weekend after experiencing a troubled flight.

Mayer was on board a Qantas A380 flight that left Sydney for Los Angeles on Friday but was forced to turn back due to a faulty fuel pipe.

Bad weather then forced the flight to land in Melbourne instead of Sydney.
Mayer shared his criticism with two million fans on his Twitter page and uploaded a photo of the diverted flight path, which was displayed on the in-flight television.

“Sydney to Los Angeles. I mean, turn around, back to Sydney. I mean, over to Melbourne ... Thanks Airbus A380!"

Where did he mention anything about QANTAS??

and why is he more important than the other 300+ pax?

I guess he must have preferred that they continue the flight rather than turn back  I am sure he knows more about the safety of flying with such a fault. And I suppose he would have preferred to return to Sydney in the poor weather conditions rather than head somewhere the aircraft could land safely and the problem be fixed.

Sounds to me like he made a comment on <insert social engineering site of choice here> just like any normal blogger/Twitterer/Facebooker would have done in the same situation, but because he has 2,000,000 followers, the media jumped on it and made it a beat-up, like they always do when it involves Qantas.

For those here who use Twitter/Facebook/etc.. regularly - surely you've at least once written a status update bemoaning some aspect of your travels? I know I have.

No different.

it's not a tough one to deduce, QF are after all the only airline operating the A380 on the SYD-LAX route atm.

I think the point was moreso that John's gripe with was Airbus, not Qantas.

I can understand his displeasure at being late, as it seems performing artists have very tight schedules these days, but he'd probably have been in J or even F, so I'm sure he was very adequately looked after during his delay in Melbourne.

He was probably quite happy with Qantas.

On another note, didn't realise he was in Australia, how do I miss all this?

Must have been a pretty whirlwind trip. Heard (from a friend who works at the airport) that he arrived mid last week (forget which day), and the masseuse in the F Lounge on Sunday told me she treated him on Friday, on his way out.

Obviously Jonh has never been to the shop to get a sausage roll.

Sorry have to repeat from other thread because I like this

Well, after the pain Mayer's voice has inflicted on Australia its only fair that our national carrier gives him a cough of a flight back.

You can't tell that I'm not a fan of the guy can you

That may be so, but all the reporting was that his gripe was with QF. The cabin crew should have invited the dirkhead to take a walk outside to cool off prior to landing in MEL.

I think his main gripe was where QF put him for the night :p said it smelled of carbon paper.
