Have a tight deadline - can't leave MEL CBD until 10.00
Must be in Sydney CBD 15.30

JQ has a good fare via international terminal at 11.30 - time suits really well
Travelling with no baggage , not even hand luggage, but wondered if it will be necessary to do passports at both ends, baggage screen outbound, customs inbound etc.
Has anyone done this recently and how does it compare with domestic, regarding time taken?
Have looked at other flights but most are cutting it a bit fine for time at one end or the other

Thanks

It will take longer than domestic. You will have to get a D sticker on yout boarding pass after showing identification such as your licence or passport.

All LAG requirements apply and you will have to board early as per international protocol.

Then through security etc when you leave the airport to prove you really did travel on a domestic leg. Do not lose the BP under any circumstances!

These trips are fun for F lounge runs but not so good if you're on a tight time frame.

Finally, it is not unknown for these flights to be transferred to the domestic part of the airport at the last minute.

I'm of the view that a 11:30am flight departure is too tight considering you have just 90 minutes between leaving the MEL CBD and boarding the flight.
If departing from a domestic terminal with OLCI at hand it might be doable, although considering how unpredictable the Tulla is at the moment with congestion, a little more time up your sleeve would be beneficial.

Thanks Hvr.

Thanks CCPhil, I'm very mindful of the deadline and Tulla!!:(
I suppose I could buy another flight at the last minute if I miss the 11.30

To what end though? You'll hardly have enough time for the F lounge and if you did, it'll be super quick. Save your stress levels and go domestic.

If it's a JQi flight checkin will close one hour prior at 1030 so it's highly likely you won't make it from the CBD in time.

The 788 schedules have been thrown into chaos with one u/s in GUM for 10 days however VKK is now back in Oz.

I'd book a QFd flight ex MEL @ 1130 or 1200 to be safe.
