Hi all!

Have an upcoming JQ 787 domestic flight MEL-SYD, the J seats are not selectable (or saleable) on this flight.
Is there a way I can select the business seats either before hand or at the airport or do they just fly with them empty?

Thanks! 😉

Can you buy an economy seat and then pay to select one of the "extra legroom" seats in rows 1-3? ;)

I am actually on a Max bundle so theoretically should be able to pick any seat for free.
My suspicions are that I am travelling with an infant so not allowing me to select....

The Business seats are classified as "extra legroom" so you should be able to select one for free with a Max Bundle. I just made a dummy booking and it worked for me.

Good news is JQ chat manually allocated us extra legroom seats in J seats, (non-exit row). Happy days.
Where they included in your bundle?

Did you get then for free? Not pay the ~$40.

I have the highest bundle available (Max bundle) which includes all seats.

It's the most expensive, but strangely has a lower carry on limit than the cheaper Flex bundle. Just an example of paying for the most expensive bundle doesn't necessarily give you all of the perks. But it does include all seats, yes.

It might be worthwhile comparing the entire bundle inclusions.
Flex is for the business/day trip type of traveller. It does not include checked luggage, Max does upto 30kg. Max also earns on qantas, Flex doesn't.
Max gets meals on all flights, flex only international and NZ$10 voucher in NZ.
Flex has same day flight changes. Flex has to pay for extra leg room seats.

Point being carry on luggage isn't the only difference. Personally, max is worthwhile for the earning and access to all seats. Versus, what used to be 4kg extra carry on

It's just weird that "Max" is not quite Max.

There is no ultimate bundle to get everything.

Noticed that Jetstar are selling Business Class tickets on the SYD-MEL domestic sector of JQ17 and JQ28 flights which also depart from the International terminal at SYD (so assume that means QF international lounge access!)

Not sure why but they don't seem to be selling J in the reverse MEL-SYD direction on JQ18 and JQ27.

Oh, new options for cheeky QF F Lounge time but how reliable are they actually operating that sector as JQi? Several reports pre-Covid of peeps booking these domestic sectors for lounge visits but getting bumped to purely domestic flights - which is a double PITA ex-SYD…

I'm one out of two flights at the moment:
1) JQ28 SYD-MEL (Nov 29) cancelled on Nov 28 (but got moved to a QFd flight)
2) JQ29 SYD-MEL (Dec 6) departed 2 hours late (but boarded on time so less F lounge time 🥲)

Am on JQ27 MEL-SYD tomorrow (assuming no cancellation).

Nice to be able to access both F lounges 🥂
