Booked a cheap fare Flying JQ next month SYD-DRW-MNL .

Was able to preallocate seats 3A and 3B both ways.

Have now found out from JQ that this is an Airbus A-320 with no Starclass and no IFE.

Anyone have any experience with this seat configuration.

I have been told by JQ that they are not offering entertainment units for rent on this flight.

I hope you are joking that the seats may not recline.

But JQ are in the process of changing all these a/c to make sure that they do have recline.

Seriously though, what do you expect from a LCC? :p

I hope so, otherwise it will be a long flight.

Thank heavens it was cheap.

Given that the A320's with nil recline VH-VGx series are not even fitted with a button to recline & that JQ Heavy Maintenance hangar in NTL can't fit an A320 I don't know where this reconfig would happen unless they send the a/c back to the factory in TLS which seems an unlikely scenario as too costly to take it out of service for that long not to mention the actual cost for the mod to be done.

A lot of JQ F/A's & ground staff are new to the airline & my guess is they are flying on slightly older A320's VH-JQx or VH-VQx they did have seats that reclined so staff are mistakenly thinking that those have been modified when they were always like that.

I have flown 3 times on JQ82 DRW/BNE which originates in DPS with two of those being on VH-VGx & the other time on VH-JQx however as I was sitting in row 11 which doesn't recline because it's immediately in front of an exit row. Row 10 can certainly recline into row 11 which they did at the earliest opportunity they could.

Deka2 all I can suggest is that you pay the extra $$$ for an exit row seat, assuming you are able bodied. It won't recline but it will still give you more leg room.

May I suggest the 2nd row of the exit rows, since there's no chance that the 1st row will recline into you.

I've personally done a SIN-DRW red-eye flight on a non-reclining seat. Torture is the most optimistic way I can find to describe that flight. And that was only 3 months ago.

No exit row available on the Flight out but have been able to change our seats on the return leg to 1E & 1F, at no extra cost.

Thanks to all for the comments.

No second row if the aircraft morphs into an A321 which is a frequent Darwin transit type!
