Just found out in HNL that JQ changed paid up front seating for me and my husband so that we are sitting on opposite sides of the plane back to Melbourne tomorrow. I only found out as was upgrading luggage allowance On contact was told airline staff did it on the day we left 30 October. Apart from writing to them what else can we do. I did manage to move one of us to the aisle seat back one row but just more curious on how this can happen Not happy

Sounds as if it is already airport control - do you have the receipt for the upfront seating?

I'd get to check-in early and explain the situation. Hopefully the airport staff will be able to work out an agreeable solution (i.e. either give you back the seats you paid for, or find an exit row seat or equivalent that you're otherwise happy with).

If you don't get the seats you paid for, you are entitled to a refund under Jetstar's Customer Guarantee. You'll need to call them to get the refund. See here (in particular number 6): Customer Guarantee | Jetstar.

Edit: I recalled this happening before, so just did some searching on AFF and found a couple of similar cases.

This was another case of lost up-front seats on a 787 flight: http://www.australianfrequentflyer..../paid-for-seats-a-joke-78359.html#post1514632

So got to airport early, the legend Steve behind the counter sorted it all out and we sat in row 23 (exit row) instead of the originally booked 10 (no one with a baby in originally booked seats so that wasn't the reason for the error). There were 5 of us and the sixth seat was free so plenty of room so all happy.

This was another case of somebody being moved from their paid seat - in this instance they kept their seat and received a $100 voucher for their trouble: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....itial-jq-impressions-71106-3.html#post1344266
