Yesterday I flew SIN (JQ) - PER (DJ) - MEL (TT) - CBR, which gave me an excellent opportunity to compare each LCC's offerings. I'm not sure if you can guess the ranking, but here's my assessment:

1. Jetstar - most comfortable seats (if you don't consider the abysmal pitch), best hosties (they were Asian and quite professional), least check-in hassles (it was in SIN);

2. Tiger - comfortable seats (same pitch issue as JQ), professional FA's (it's always a mark of TT/SQ), check-in was OK and flight was punctual;

3. Virgin Blue - very uncomfotable seats (even though the seat next to me was vacant), rude and aggressive female check-in personnel (wanted to weigh everything, and had an attitude) and the usual school-girl, giggly FA's, which don't instill any confidence whatsoever. I must admit I dread flying DJ.

It seems to me that Richard has a problem or two.

I know JQ and DJ - TT(?) are leather seats which are never great for long haul IMHO, but what about the DJ seat was so uncomfortable...??

Sometimes I get stuck with one of the older DJ aircraft which feel like its carried more than its fair share of passengers :rolleyes: and the seat padding has all but evaporated as such - and no head wing rests doesn't help....

Without being rude, but given previous posts on here I dare say you would have had your mind made up about the DJ flight before you stepped out of the taxi.

If you go in wanting to hate something, chances are you will.

Well when most of your planes are parked on the tarmac and you have cancelled most of your flights it's not difficult to keep the other few on time.
Deathstar seats are the most uncomfortable of any of the domestic carriers,don't even think about doing MEL-PER in them,and their FA's have an attitude that they are doing you a favor by attending to you.
I've always found Virgin Blue deliver a good product at a reasonable price.

The beautiful thing is that there is no right answer and we are able to compare our opinions. I rate the seats and service JQ, then DJ, then TT. JQ is quite a comfortable experience with good seats. I don't love the DJ seats, but they are bearable and foxtel and points are on offer. TT I hate and would never fly again due to the unprofessional staff that I have experienced and seats I couldn't bear. Of course nothing beats the QF experience for me.

Here on the Sunshine Coast, we have the three choices, although TT is only a few times a week.
Last flight on JQ, MCY to MEL, over 12 months ago, felt like the proverbial sardine in a can on arrival at MEL. Since then always go DJ and have not had a bad experience, and no probs with the seats, or pitch.
As for TT, to many bad reports from friends on pitch for me to bother trying.
Cheers Dee

Meh, for me Virgin and Jetstar are same difference these days.

Virgin has become a little more professional less giggling and joking and Jetstar has become more relaxed and happy - less strict. So they meet in the middle for me.

JQ and DJ seating feel the same to me though as well - although some DJ metal have the headwings now which is good.

My experience has been the same with some dodgy TT staff (and I'm a low maintenance sort of passenger). I can't believe the original writer thought they were professional. Despite our work's best fare of day policy, TT has been officially struck off.

Dodgy staff are everywhere, but I have found TTs check-in reps (presumably all contract) to be very nice (as long as you play by the rules) and 1000% better than the surly Qantas SYD T1 people.

As for the FAs (the only time passengers really encounter "true" TT staff) they come across a bit like "diner staff" in the USA - unmotivated and overworked, but otherwise they are equally likely to ignore you (outside service times) as a Qantas or Virgin Blue FA.

On my last two DJ flights the crew both ways was a mix of male and female and the female member/s were probably 30s/40s age wise. No giggling just some subtle humour from one of the males. I personally enjoy the subtle humour.

While not really related to this my absolute favourites for crews would be MH & NZ.
