Cheap Flights and Airfare Deals in New Zealand and Abroad | Jetstar Airlines New Zealand

Jetstar's 1c fares are only available for people booking online through Jetstar.com and the flights are one-way and non-refundable.
Although the 1c seats will be made available between all domestic destinations – Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown, Dunedin – Jetstar says the travel periods will be different each day and they will vary between cities according to frequency.
Customers are advised to refer to the specials page on the Jetstar website at 6pm each day to find out the available flights.

So do we all agree that trans-tasman flying is a money pit for airlines at the moment? Surely no-one can be making money flying trans-tasman at the moment? Unless its freight?

This is intra-NZ, not TT

Whoops - didn't realize that it was intra-NZ only! If the NZ economy is really going that badly what do others think about the idea of reducing capacity until things get better? Obviously a bit difficult for Air New Zealand to do, but what about Pacific Blue, Jetconnect and Jetstar?

Pacific Blue and Jetconnect are both ahead of you on that one - they dropped domestic services a couple of years ago.

It is just a promotional thing to get attention. Bettering a similar offer from AirNZ. Seems to be a common tactic with low cost carriers. It is only limited to 3000 flights total, likely also restricted to flights at off peak times. It has already given them a lot of free promotion. They make some of it back on people who book the cheap fares then have changes to their travel plans and end up having to pay full fares or change fees for the flight.

The sale fares are only one way so it is likely that returning the passengers will pay normal fare prices on the other leg.

Yesterdays flights were also limited to the Xmas-NY period when there is almost no business travel.

I actually think TT fares are much more expensive than a few years ago.
A couple of years ago got flew SYD-Christchurch on VirginBlue/Emirates for under $100
